Yup. Leaving Ritchie in to give up that 3-run HR in Seattle was the only time I can remember being annoyed at a decision before it went wrong.

I know we had a good record prior to the Angels series, but I wonder how much Walt tackling Soler encouraged the players to give a little more effort.

White's catch today and Dubon's vs. Colorado were plays where the fielders didn't care they had to sacrifice their bodies.

It's a fun narrative for sure.

But I don't Walt tackling a former teammate (mind you it wasn't an act of aggression, it was protection) inspired the team.

I mean - the team has been on fire since that moment. You can say “fun narrative” but I say “team knows their manager is a bad mfer, let’s go!”

Walt's been with the org for a while now. They knew he was a black belt.

He left him in there by design.. he's young rook so coach wanted to see if he could pitch his way out of trouble

Walt being a bad arse and Walt tackling a giant to protect his pitcher are different things. The team saw Walt stand up for them in front of the entire world and reacted accordingly.

Again, this is like the fifth time a player in a Braves uni has seen Walt take down someone.

When I was working with the AA team in Jackson, we had a new Walt story every year it seemed.

It's just the first time that cameras caught it, so everyone is freaking out about how awesome it was. And for us, it was awesome. For the Braves org, it was Tuesday (or whatever day it occurred).

Again, what y’all heard within the organization and what Walt showed the world are different things. When someone shows the world they have your back, that means more than what you see internally. Sale immortalized the moment with a custom label on a bottle of wine and have it to Walt. That’s not just another day with Walt. That amped the team up, just like it did the fans.

“We couldn’t get enough of it.” said Braves reliever Tyler Kinley, who pitched for Colorado from 2020 through part of 2025 before he was traded to Atlanta. “Guys rally around different things throughout the year, and that, for us, was huge. Guys already knew that Walt was tough and a bad dude.
“I mean, everyone knows that Soler is a big dude, and he’s not a gentle giant. To see Walt zone in on Soler, find him, and then take him down and end the whole scrum was amazing. Guys were already ready to run through a brick wall for Walt.”

Homie we get it, you don't like me because I said negative things in the past.

This is the second time in this thread alone that you've tried to play gotcha with me. It's tiresome, especially after an awesome series win.

6-5 going into that game. Including that game, they're 22-8 since. I don't believe that is a coincidence.

Sale's lone L of the season was April 6 in Anaheim until this past friday at dodger stadium - I'm all for another 22-8 run right now

eta - Sale's outing in Anaheim was the night before Walt hugged Soler -

I didn’t play gotcha. I pointed out where a player refuted what you posted. All good with me. You have good baseball knowledge and I upvote you often.

Sale 7 innings, 2 earned runs

Strider 6 innings, 0 earned runs

Elder 5 2/3 innings, 0 earned runs

Ohtani is slumping and Mookie is out, but that’s unreal vs that lineup.

That really shows where my expectations were when I thought we were "good" and we were just a game over .500.

But the spring training injuries and PEDboi.
