"Jerry Gallo's dead!"
"I'm Jerry CALLO, C-A-L-L-O!"
Such a great movie.

Unfortunately, I don't think we will see any 'big' moves until January/February.

Yeah, I don’t expect any reasons to bump it before 2023 gets here.

Winter meetings start December 4? Maybe more stuff will start brewing then.

I'm getting downvoted but Grissom is not who you want at SS if you are still in a championship window.

Well if we don't sign Swanson and can't sign any of the other Big 3 who else you want?

Not a matter of if they can. It's if they will. Of course, if they won't, then Grissom may be the best option. But Steeler is correct in that he's probably not the guy you want with this window. Especially with his defense last year. Unless Wash is truly a miracle worker.

Well, if anyone could I’d put money on Wash to do it.

Wash is really good at what he does but Grissom is not a SS.

I'd be okay w/trading for Adames from MIL.
And if the Braves don't resign Dansby or sign one of the other Big 3 it's not b/c they can't it's b/c they chose not to. We all know that the Braves have the money but AA wants an even payroll.

Grissom is in New Orleans working with Wash
quote:
Ron Washington, the Braves third-base coach and venerable infield guru, is back home in New Orleans, keeping up with baseball news and hoping the team re-signs shortstop Dansby Swanson. But he’s also doing something else — intensive one-on-one work with Vaughn Grissom, prepping the youngster to take over for Swanson if needed. “I don’t think Dansby is replaceable unless they go get a superstar,” Washington said Tuesday. “But we can handle the position. We’ve got (Orlando) Arcia, and we’ve got Grissom — that kid is getting better and better every day. He’s here in New Orleans right now, and I’m telling you, he’s improving big-time.” If it wasn’t apparent there’s a very real possibility Swanson will leave as a free agent, it should be now. The Braves sent Grissom from his home in Orlando, Florida, to New Orleans on Sunday to work with “Wash,” the first of three planned one-week sessions designed for one thing: to get the 21-year-old ready to play shortstop on a regular basis in the majors. Grissom is staying in a downtown hotel and working out for about three hours each day with Washington at New Orleans Youth Academy, which is operated by MLB. Washington recently told Braves president of baseball operations Alex Anthopoulos that he could get Grissom ready to play shortstop by spring training.

I’m actually intrigued by a Joey Gallo without the shift.
Hell, I'm intrigued by Matt Olson without the shift. It seemed like he had a ton of hits taken away from him.

be that as it may, it remains beyond ridiculous that MLB is outlawing strategy.

I used to feel like this until I thought of it this way: Pitchers have a built in advantage over hitters by sheer virtue of throwing a small object 60 feet 6 inches at 95 mph. In the age of analytics, pitchers gain even more of an advantage on hitters. Giving something back to the hitters isn't the worst thing in the world, and maybe we see less TTO baseball since hitters won't feel like they have to hit everything over the shift.

You make good points Dawg and I agree. Baseball has always been a game of adjustments, but hitters really have not been able to adjust to the shift other than launch angle hit it out the park strategy.
When you ask them why don't they bunt or hit the other way the become indignant...saying it ain't all that easy and I'm sure it's not.
I would use Anthony Rizzo as an example - he was a .280 to .290 guy from 2014 to 2019 when teams started to shift him extremely. His average has dropped over 40 points since. He's tried bunting but more times than not the bunts go foul.
