At what point will the NCAA be rendered useless?

As we move closer to the super conference era what power will they really wield anymore ?

None, thats why the SEC is adding UT and OU. Getting all these big brands together it'll make the NCAA useless

The writing is on the wall.
There will be a 24 to 32 team super organization that breaks away from the NCAA and it will destroy college athletics
Many will think it's awesome and a good idea but most people will see it for the greedy money grab it is and tune out.
I would wish nothing but immediate and painful failure on such a concept

I guess maybe the only purpose they still have is to be the de facto bad guy as to why they can't pay players

Do they really handle much with regard to football other than oversee eligibility? I think they will always exist to run the basketball and other tournaments.

About 15 years ago when they couldn't bust Miami and Shapiro when everyone knew what was going on.

A 24 to 32 team super organization would not be able to produce a good basketball postseason. The 64 team bracket is why March Madness is so popular. There is not a postseason format a 32 team super organization could produce that would be able to come close to sniffing March Madness in terms of popularity and money
Some would say the super organization would be for football only but I would refuse to do business with the super organization teams if I wasn't a part of it

it was headed in this direction long ago. When the giant arms race started back in the late 90s early 2000s and ADs started treating football as real enterprises and had to squeeze every dollar they could out of them.

To a lesser extent the college world series too.
The SEC really cares about that event. I know football is king but many SEC fanbases would be very upset if the college world series and the NCAA baseball tournament as a whole got taken off the table.

The 32 team super conference could hold an invitational and invite 32 other teams based on the same criteria that is currently used by the NCAA.
It would be very easy to replicate.

The NCAA will continue to certify games and the presidents will make sure they have a say as well

meh we'd go from 10 conference series to 14 and Hoover would become our Omaha
