Houston Astros outfielder Josh Reddick came out to the baseball field at Kingwood along with Astros pitcher Joe Musgrove, and they surprised the Kingwood baseball team with playoff tickets.
Reddick returned on the morning of Apil 27, 2018 and surprised the team with new jerseys he had designed with the help of New Balance.
The idea arose after Reddick and a representative from New Balanece approached coach Kelly Mead during the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association convention in Waco.
“It just says a lot about him [Reddick], He’s a class act,” Mead said. “He’s just your everyday guy, but he’s playing the game, the same game we play, at the highest level.”:
The meeting ended with the players making a video for New Balance in which they make a couple of the Ric Flair ‘Woo’ calls that have become identified with Reddick.

These kids today have way too nice of sports gear. My nephew’s 9 year old basketball team has better jerseys than I had in high school.
Good on Reddick though. Go stros

I hope those high school kids taught him how to hit

I have recently coached some high school aged kids. They care about jerseys and hats way more than we did in HS. Id have much rather Reddick bought my team new bats and catchers gear

Why does Reddick look like a functioning crack head?
How short is he?
How short is he?

Anyone know why this particular high school? Playoff tickets and now jerseys. Pics don't look like disadvantaged kids.

Don't know for sure that this is the reason, but pretty sure that entire school was destroyed by Harvey. Seem to remember hearing there was water on the second floors.

Because their whole school flooded so they’ve been going to satellite schools all year.

I took on the likes of Drew Brees and Josh Beckett from that dugout some 20 years ago.

Kingwood HS flooded from Harvey. The entire school went to class in Summerwood until 2 weeks ago when they moved back in to the remodeled school.

Did not know this, thanks for posting. I'm actually a Kingwood high alumni, but haven't been back there in at least 20 years. It was tough hear about all the flooding there, nevertheless, way to go Josh!

The Kingwood community was decimated by Harvey, including schools, businesses and homes. The HS first floor was completely under water and the second floor had 4 feet. The kids were split divvied up to 3 of the closest high school to finish the year. Rebuilding finished sooner than planned and the school reopened in late March.
Everything was lost. Band equipment, all athletic gear and jerseys, theater props, gymnastics setups. You name it. Kingwood is a huge high school and the impact was severe.

What you see is well over a mile from the San Jacinto river. That big parking lot is a brand new Flagship HEB that was only open for a year. What you see is 6 feet of water all in that parking lot. It was a total mess but we had plenty of Cajun Navy here to rescue people.
