Texas and Texas Tech, just like KU, K-state and OU and OSU are all package deals.
Nope
All obligations Texas schools had to look out for each other got flushed when the aggies bolted. After the BIG 12 grant of rights ends, the days of Tech and Baylor being in a conference with Texas comes to an end.
Your fans always bitch about Texas. I hope you enjoy your Texas free life in a conference with the likes of Tulsa and Arkansas State.

Was unaware of this. Is it the same with the Kansas and Oklahoma schools?
And I've already gone through this once when I was at school. Everyone was saying we were somehow going ivy league. School started buying property up like crazy and turning it into green space.

Baylor settled, reportedly paid him between 20-25 million to drop the suit.

No. Briles had not filed any law suit yet. Reportedly Baylor and Briles have settled, but the number is not known. Most people I have seen that claim to have "sources" have put the number much lower than that. In reality the number has not been made public yet, so your guess is as good as mine.

Just paying tells me that the PH report didn't have enough on him to fire him for cause. If it found him to be covering up things they could have fired him without paying him a dime.
Would not be shocked if he became the Aggie OC.

I'm sure Baylor fans are still saying that he will be back...even after news of the settlement between Briles and the school.

There will be ongoing lawsuits against him and/or Baylor for several years to come. Nobody is going to hire a coach who is in the process of being deposed and testifying in civil suits involving sexual assault.

Depends on how much he got paid. If it was anywhere close to the full $40 million you're right. If it was $5-10 million then it's pretty obvious they had something in him and they mutually agreed on a low number to make it end quickly.
No way Briles so readily settled for a low number if there is nothing on him.

Sure, but he knows all the dirty secrets. It's way to dangerous to just tell him to pound sand. This is how things like work, you settle on a relatively low figure and have him sign a non disclosure agreement.

Briles buyout was around $15 million (per 247)

Wrong
PH had more than enough dirt on Briles. Still, Briles had to be paid something, or he talks, and the real ugliness comes out. PH didn't do a full report because no one wanted the full truth in writing. It's that bad.

Obviously Longhorns or Aggies

I don't think that figure was "reported". his contract was until 2025 I believe, which is one hell of a long time. BUT, surely the contract had a morals clause allowing early termination for cause.
All things considered i'm feel like he would have taken much less to keep as much shite out of the press as possible. I also bet there was some sort of deal for Baylor paying his lawyers in the upcoming rape cases (which will almost certainly be settled).
