Jesus, if a guy is throwing 96 that is coming. I couldn't imagine having to adjust for another 10mph faster. That is just ridiculous.

Apparently it was only the stadium gun that had it as 106. MLB.com listed 102. (never thought I'd see the day where 102 was kind of disappointing)

gotta wait for what Pitch F/X says.

Stadium guns are really reliable at like 70% of stadiums, others are complete nonsense.

advances in technology have radar guns clocking higher speeds since being introduced in the 70s. I dont think it is coincidence that the fastest pitches ever recorded have came in the last 5- 10 years.

on the other hand, it is funny that Chapman always hits 105 and 106 at home.

i dont think he has been clocked higher than 103 on the road. Not that that isnt fast. But shite, 106 seems impossible.

not to mention 4 days ago he was complaining of shoulder inflamtation and saying he couldnt throw over 94 MPH.

Dusty said PETCO's parks are bullshite. Said he's seen them turn them down for opposing teams and what not. Obvioulsy he didn't loose that much velocity.

the Stalker guns that are used are the same as they've been for years. Jugs guns are always too fast and arent really used by scouts anyways.

In terms of highest pitch speeds we're seeing, it's not like it's jumping up exponentially every year. Zumaya then Chapman. We're still just seeing freaks push the limit but not a big group of people.

I just haven't heard of anyone saying that guns are faster now.
