he hit 103 in petco last year

freaks are one thing, but have the only freaks in baseball played from 2000-2010?

The more I think about it, there might be something to it. Have to find a scout now to ask about it.

if anything I think it is safe to say that stadium guns can be altered somewhat to be higher/lower depending on team and situation?

at least that is a long standing myth.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if that was the case.

They had something about that in CNN/SI a couple issues ago. About how at opposing stadiums if they know a guy likes to throw hard they will alter the scoreboard reading to make him think he is throwing slow to watch him try and amp it up. About messing with the minds of pitchers and what not.

Unless adrenaline is a real thing. One of our freshmen pitchers hit 96 a week ago when he was consistently topping out at 92-93. So I could see a 3 mph jump in an adrenaline packed situation, but the stadium adjustment is really plausible.

106 mph = 155 feet per second

60.5 feet mound to home plate

0.39 seconds to see ball, decide to swing, and get bat through zone to make contact

That's almost impossible

of course it is, but we are talking 106 MPH.

its kind of like the 40 yard dash, where they say the human body cannot possibly run sub 4.0. I just have a hard time believing someone can throw a baseball 106 MPH. There are just bodily limitations to certain things.

of course i could be totally off. But that is my opinion.

he is still one of the hardest throwers ever, if not the hardest

I would just quit if I was the catcher, or be doped up on morphine. That must be a bitch to handle.

Theres no way he threw it 106.

There's also no way he was only hitting 93 in San Diego.
