I want to say Navy went to the Holly Wood sign and made it say GO NAVY

Navy whipped Army that day.
Navy had only beaten 2 teams that season, Lehigh and Princeton.
Army was no better, they had only beaten Dartmouth and Rutgers (back when Rutgers was basically Temple) and the worst program in the nation.
Army lost to fricking Colgate...and didn't score a single point against a terrible Gerry Faust led Notre Dame team.

I watched that game and don't remember it being played there. Now, Napoleon MacCallum I do remember.

My best friend from HS was a middie that year. I remember him talking about going to California with the brigade.

It was a rout. 45-13 I think. I know Navy wore white that game.

I remember it well. I was in middle school and watched the whole game. Both teams were awful. I think they were both 2-8, but it was a big deal, and I watched the whole thing. I want to say it was on Black Friday. I also think Bama went up to play Doug Flutie and BC in Foxboro in the early game and lost.

I'm actually surprised that both teams where more Pro Style........for 1983. Split back Pro vs Split back veer. No real double wing. Cool to see how body type has changed in the last 41 years.

That was a decade later with the Raiders. The injury ended his football career, and nearly cost him his leg. He went on to start a software company in Vegas, sell it, then went to work for casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson.
Napoleon is the person responsible for getting Mark Davis interested in moving to Vegas, and he was also instrumental in getting both the politicians and public in Vegas to support the move.

Basically they did it because of the large military presence on the West Coast, but it was a giant PITA to transport both academies to California (which is why they haven’t done it since).

As another poster stated he broke his leg on MNF with the Raiders against the Niners. He did have a season ending ankle injury(I think maybe knee) early in 1984 which was supposed to be his senior year. The NCAA gave him a hardship , and let him come back and play for the 85 season.
