Army and Navy are both 5-0 for the first time since 1945

Yeah, when Army and Navy are good....we know we are living in trying times.

Been wondering how this plays out now that they’re both in the American conference this football season. Theoretically they could both run the table in the conference, be eligible to play each other in the conference championship on 12/6, then play the Army-Navy game on 12/14? Or are Army and Navy for some unjust reason ineligible to play in the American championship game?
With the G5 teams guaranteed a playoff spot this could be the best Army-Navy game in 75 years I’d guess if they both ran the table until they met. Both have a shot to knock off a ~#10 ranked ND team too. Hope they both keep winning

Correct. Their game on 12/14 is a non-conference game.
Let’s assume both of them beat ND, one of them wins the AAC Championship & the other beats the champion on 12/14.
Do they both miss out on playoffs? Would the 12-1 team be ranked in top 11 for an at-large? Would the 12-1 AAC champ be ranked higher than Boise State/MW Champ?
I’d love to see it play out

Correct. Their game on 12/14 is a non-conference game.

Would want to see that play out too even though it’d be to the detriment to Tulane. That’d be pretty cool to see them play each other for a championship

This is exactly what will happen if both teams make it to the AAC championship game.
The Army/navy game is considered a non-conference game.

It was announced earlier this year that the CFP brackets would be announced on Dec 8th and they would not take into consideration the results of the Army/navy game.
Theoretically, one could win the conference championship, go to the playoffs, and lose the CIC Trophy!

Army & Navy are much better than Northern Illinois

Absolutely this would be the case. I have heard that the 12/14 game is not technically considered a “conference” game since it takes place after the conference championship, but both teams are fully eligible to play for the title. #GONAVY

The service academies may be an unexpected beneficiary of the new transfer portal rules.
They alone can built a team and recruit anticipating the players are making a 4 year commitment.

So if there are three good teams in the AAC, let’s say Tulane, Army, and Navy, Tulane would be guaranteed to get the short end of the stick every time in scheduling by having to play both of them while Army and Navy are guaranteed to not play each other…

Legitimate question:
Can military academy players get NIL money?
I don’t see why they couldn’t.
I know that they live a very different college life than players from other colleges, but does anyone know if there’s a specific rule against them receiving compensation from their name, image, and/or likeness?

So the game to end the regular season, is basically, the first bowl game of the year? CFB keeps getting weirder.

It's always been that way. It's basically the same concept of the neutral site games at the beginning of the season. Not sure how this is getting weirder?
If we're being honest the results of the Army/navy game hasn't ever had an affect on the BCS or 4 team playoff. They just gave the game a courtesy that in the extremely unlikely event it mattered we'll wait. Now with a guaranteed Group of 5 in the playoffs and earlier playoff games they are saying that they are no longer willing to wait an extra week.
This will likely be a negative because they will have played one less game when compared to other group of 5 champions
