There were 6 Sutter brothers to play in the NHL. Pretty awesome that they all made it to the show. The compiled 6 stanley cups in 86 seasons (cumulative).

Maurice and Henri Richard (“The Rocket” and “The Pocket Rocket”) combined for a staggering 19 Stanely Cups!

Maurice retired the all time leading scorer in the NHL with 8 Stanley cups and in 1998 was listed as the 5th best player in NHL history.
Henri finished with 11 Stanley cups, more than any other player in NHL history. The only other player to match the 11 championships as a player in any American sport.... Bill Russel.

Peyton and Eli.... 3.

come on now.

are you really trying to say Ali would do no better than him?

really?

Didn't say Ali wasn't better. I'm just drawing a comparison to a modern day fighter with a similar body type and skillset. Ali would have started as a cruiser weight today just like Haye. Haye was considered a pretty damn good fighter before he shite the bed against Wlad.

Smaller, faster fighters with not much pop do not do well against the brothers' style. Hold, lean, 1-2 or 1-3-3. Ali's style was the death of a thousand cuts. He rarely sat down on his punches. I don't think that works on a guy who is significantly bigger and knows how to wrap up.

Haye is 6'3 and fought at 217lbs

Ali was 6'3 and fought at 214 lbs in his prime.

Same size.

But you're acting like none of the older boxers could adapt to a present day style of boxing and that is just wrong. I doubt Ali would rope-a-dope on a guy that size, and would use his quickness instead.

Like any other sport, there's no way to know for sure how athletes in different eras would match up. So Haye might have the same size, weight and style as Ali.... so do hundreds of other guys. But they are nowhere near the fighter Ali was.

this

Ali would fight them kind of like how Mayweather does to his opponents.

He would use his quickness and hand speed to outbox them.

Didn't you just say that the Klitschkos would get their asses kicked if they fought in a different era?

That's what started this whole thing.

My initial point is that they would be competitive in any era and fight for championships based on their size, skill and power.

You brought up Ali. I responded that I think both brothers would beat him. That's a personal opinion and a side point that no one can win.

If that is a perfect technique, why didn't he use it against Big George who is slower, smaller, and throws wider punches than either brother?

b/c big George was not as smart tactically and could be worn out.

I don't think the K Bro would fall for that.

And i will stand by both statements. I believe they would have their asses handed to them by the 60's/70's fighters. And there is no way to know for sure across eras. Are we shipping the brothers back in time, or are we bringing an Ali/Frazier in their prime into the modern age with our time machine? That makes a difference you know. (training, diets, strategies)

Its just message board hypotheticals bro, but the athleticism difference is obvious between the old school guys and the modern guys.

These threads always devolve into mass stupidity. Are you people just trying to name every sports/brother you can think of? If they arent better then the Manning Brothers, its a waste of time to name them. The Mathews? Really? The DiMaggios? No way. 7 guys who play rugby? STFU.

why not?

Dom and Joe alone could be argued above Peyton and Eli Manning.

Add in Vince and you can stick them above for sure since Cooper Manning had to quit before he got to college.

Dom was a 6 time All-Star and in the Red Sox HOF and Vince was a 2X all-star, played 10 years in MLB.

Peyton compares to JoeD, among the best ever in their sports.
Eli and Dom, great players but not elite.
Vince had a better career than Cooper.

Dom was a 7 time all star actually and that was with missing 3 years due to WW2.

I think he compares just fine with Eli.

if people want to start arguing titles as a feather Joe blows Payton and Eli out of the water.

We are making the same point. I would agree Dimaggios > or = Mannings and its a good discussion.
