Bottas was brilliant today but Lewis is still better IMO. Vettel should've caught bottas today too.

No. not at all.

However, Bottas Gould be in a good seat for a while now.

Bottas will be out of that seat if he keeps winning....Hamilton won't like that much. Hamilton is super talented but such a little bitch

I disagree.

Hamilton has a lot of faults, but he put up with Alonso and Rosberg.

Being afraid of inter-team competition is one thing I don't think we can accuse him of.

As to the OP / original question... no, Bottas is not Hamilton's equal. Bottas has exceeded my expectations, but he's not on Hamilton's level. Very few drivers are... I'd argue very few drivers have ever been at Hamilton's level, actually.

Bottas had a good race today.

It was a brilliant effort, but first place was never in question, barring a technical failure.

I think Bottas has earned the #2 seat for 2018.

Not only at Mercedes but within the field. The Mercedes are back to being .5 seconds a lap faster than the field. The NBC guys do a good job pretending that this championship is up for grabs but anyone who has watched the last few races knows what's about to happen.

Mercedes will still win the constructors, but at least it's more competitive than the last few years.

Bottas is a fantastic driver. Doesn't have much flash but he can drive when it counts.

Ferrari is apparently in for a lot of hurt for the rest of the year with their turbo issues.

Yeah, I appreciate Ferrari making it interesting at the beginning of the season but I think we can see the rest of this year is going to go like the last 2 or 3. Mercedes figured out how to tune their "diva" now they're going to just bludgeon the rest of the field for the second half of the season.

Hamilton + Bottas >> Vettel + Kimi

The only interesting thing left is who is going to go where for next year. Even though he's been the victim of some bad luck this year, I don't see Ferrari keeping Raikkonen. If he goes, the dominoes will fall. The big questions are where will Verstappen and Alonso end up?

VES is overhyped if you ask me. I really liked him at Toro Rosso too.

The 'unlimited' engine upgrades are a great addition. Ferrari will be playing from behind, with Bottas taking the penalty they should have replaced one of their turbos the same race and taken their hit in the British GP.

Just FYI, he's VER now that Vergne left Ferrari.

Yes, he's overhyped no question but he's also the best of the new breed of drivers coming into F1. That said, I've been pretty impressed with Ocon this year too. If Max gets disgruntled with RBR, and if he has a performance out in his contract, I wouldn't be surprised to see him move over to the Scuderia next year.
