More of the same competition Odell Beckham had in high school
compare Odell’s high school highlights to Arch’s. It doesn’t look like they’re playing the same sport. Odell was light years better than anyone on the field.

he played in multiple CFP games and got run against UGA last year.

He’s a third year player. This wasn’t a true freshman playing college football for the first time, and I’m tired of people acting like it was.

If Odell had a decent QB in high school he would have been the #1 WR in the country

Peyton, Eil and Odell Beckham, Jr. all played at the same HS (at different times). The competition level was virtually the same as when they played there. They all turned out just fine.

I can't speak for Peyton and Eli but Odell hit the camp circuits. He competed at the Army All American game. You got to see him compete against the best. Arch didn't go to any camps and compete

In the 2022 state semifinals game, Newman played at Lafayette Christian Academy and got destroyed 49-7.

Manning was 7-of-16 for 47 yards and an interception, … he looked horrible. He wasn’t even the 1st team district quarterback, but somehow was the top QB recruit in the country,

Woof.......

I'm just pointing out is his uncles had better competition at Newman when they were there...

Still zero state championships though...

Considering he was running for his life all night I guess he did look horrible.

But he was the All State QB that year and some criteria for all state(for decades now) us that to be ALL state you MUST be first team all district and on the all metro team.

2A is not great competition. But many people said the same thing about Peyton and Eli when they were highly touted out of the same high school.

I’m no expert in QB evaluation and I understand not writing a guy off after one game but I just didn’t see the potential everybody talked about.

I agree. I don’t see it. Texas has spent too much money on him to bench him. Texas will treat him like a game manager so he does not lose the game. Short easy throws to the flats and a check down specialist. The game just moves to fast for him and he does not have the arm strength or accuracy to be elite.

He gets Ecole Classique three times before the UGA game so the media will be back on his dick shortly.

NOLA area people know why this is hilarious, but you’re absolutely correct

He’s clearly a decent QB, but I saw next to nothing during his time in HS that separated him from the other legit D1 quarterbacks I’ve seen in my life. If I’m being honest, his mechanics and footwork are awesome (he’s had the best coaching since he was an infant), but his gameplay left a lot to be desired in my eyes. Saw him look completely average versus average competition.

Besides the last name, I’ve never understood the hype

Not a single person said anything about the level of competition when Randy Livingston was straight up abusing people in high school. He made the other players on his team look like all state players, and made all the opponents look silly. I know different sport, but still.....

I think this is the problem we all see right? He is good, good enough to play D1 and good enough to play at UT. BUT, he's been crowned the next great QB since he torched UL Monroe. This is only because his last name is Manning. If he was just a normal guy, who's last name is Landry or whatever, not a single person in sports media would be saying the things they have been saying since last season.

I am not writing him off yet. He made a couple of impressive throws in the 4th quarter. That was a tough opponent and he probably felt the pressure, all of the Heisman talk, etc.

I look for him to improve a lot before his time in college is done.

Are we sure? They had the resources and NIL to get whoever they wanted. Texas isnt a normal school.

We’ll see what happens but they dropped a winnable game that basically already would have clinched their playoff spot.

I don’t have much sympathy for him. It’s not like he is an amateur. He’s made 6+ million dollars already basically on his name.

'pique - based on my research, John Fourcade is the only NOLA Catholic League QB to start an NFL game. 79 kids from Rummel, HC, Jesuit, BM, Shaw, and St Aug have made an NFL roster. Only 1 QB - Fourcade.

That's my point to hangover Newman has 2. Heck Chalmette equals the Catholic league NFL production. If only Norris Weese would have been 2 years younger

Heck I don't think they had a QB start a game for LSU since 1988.

way before my time as I had to do more research Hank graduated from HC in 1947 then went to Tennessee. Lauricella was drafted by the DET Lions in 1952, and released several weeks later. He was picked up off waivers by the Dallas Texans. Played 1 year (10 games) with the Dallas Texans and never started. He was the 1st string punter, and 2nd/3rd string QB. He only played QB in 3 games during mop up duty when the Texans were getting beat. In his 3 NFL games as a backup QB, he was 11 of 22 for 177 yds , 2 INT's, and 4 TD's. FYI - The Texans finished 1 and 9 in 1952. They were outscored by an average of 17 to 36 pts. He never played in the NFL again.

There’s a reason he’s been at Texas for three years and couldn’t beat out Ewers.

I feel like people forget Ewers was the five-star all world recruit before Manning was
