Truly horrific news. All I know is that I saw on SEC network that he was in critical condition following his surgery.

Hopefully that guy pulls through. Prayers to his family, himself and his team

Scary. I still don't think I ever saw the play that caused it, if there was a specific play.

I was reading about this story last night, and a TN paper said that the school was looking through video of the game to see if they could find the specific play, but they think it happened sometime in the 2nd Q.

Horrible situation...

As of this morning nothing new to report on condition. Coach says he was injured on a routine play. Nothing unusual about it. LINK

If you have to get injured Vandy is the ideal spot. Top notch facilities. Hope the young man recovers fully.

The word "nonresponsive" kept getting used.

One thing from this morning: he started his football career at Illinois where he redshirted as a freshman and played a lot and significantly his sophomore year.

When they are looking at hits, those soph year hits need to be examined as well.

In last night's game, he got up off the field under his own power, and then collapsed on the sidelines. The first picture they had was of him on the field, and slightly bent over at his waist. Was he in his own backfield or had he gotten up from something in Vandy's backfield?

This from an hour ago, they had reviewed the play. LINK

and said it was a clean hit, a football play.

Didn't Chickie Mullins get hurt at Vandy as well? Or did they play Vandy at home?

This is one of the strangest sports stories I’ve heard in a while. As sad and horrific as it is, it’s equally odd that there has been absolutely no reports on ESPN and all reports on Twitter, etc have been so vague.

A source close to the situation has told @HEROSportsFCS that Tennessee State player Christion Abercrombie's swelling of the brain has gone down since being taken to surgery yesterday, but he is still not verbally responsive.

AJC talked to the families of both players (from Georgia) who had similar injuries this weekend. The high school player is also in really bad shape.

Abercrombie has a family member who is somewhat optimistic.
The Atlanta paper seems to be following the story as actively as the Nashville Tennessean.

Bump.

Pulling for this dude, he’s showing daily improvement but not out of the woods. If this happened at an OVC stadium he might not have made it.
