Which makes that poster pointing out that being virtue signaling all the more spot on IMO.
See as i see, i was calling out disingenuous emotion.
If my response was virtue signalling, then every post including the OP is.
Its like a paradox. Calling out virtue signalling is in and of itself....virtue signalling.

I’m a Spurs fan, so I hated his on-court persona. He destroyed the Silver and Black many a time, and you could see it coming. There was no way to stop it. He had a smug look sometimes, and could royally piss off the SA fans.
With that said, it was because of how great a player he was. An average baller doesn’t elicit that sort of emotional response from rival fans.
Furthermore, the flaws in his past only expose the human side of him. As a husband, he made a mistake that is often unforgivable. I can’t help but think that shaped him to be the father that he was.

seems weird to complain about posts from other forums and whatnot
why not engage those people and let them explain their thoughts/comments?
Bro, youve been here a long time. Thats what we do.
Also, im not engaging with people on fricking twitter!! no way.

If anyone thinks 1 is “overboard”, count me in as saying that person is a turd

Then why are you bringing twitter shite here?

2 True grieving, crying, acting as if a relative passed= weird to me
I was no Kobe fan, so it would be weird for me to act like this, but I understand how someone who loved him could be affected this way.
I mentioned it earlier, but would you or Hester be surprised if people cried over Trump or Obama if the same thing happened? I'm not saying you'd be impacted, just wondering if you'd both still find it odd.

This, the worship of famous people we have in this society is sickening and unhealthy.
It sucks for his family, but other than that, his death has no affect on my life at all. I didn’t know him.

we can never link to twitter, talk about twitter, or discuss twitter ever again on TigerDroppings. Got it.
What are you even talking about. We discuss things that happpen all the time outside of TD.

The poster didn’t simply say he was a good father
He said how “impressive it was” that he was around
Point still stands - I think Kobe would be humble about it and downplay it, but it's not insulting.
You made a similar comment about the reaction of the public perhaps pissing off his friends and family. I don't get that either. I can't imagine being upset about an outpouring of love from strangers for your friend/family member.

Although, if the Chinese or Russians killed trump I would prolly cry becuase it means we are likely getting drafted

I would be more upset over Burrow than "some dude at works 2nd cousin". Im more upset about Kobe than "some dude at works 2nd cousin". I wouldnt know that person.
I wouldnt post on social media about any of it though. (i dont really consider TD social media).
I wouldnt post on social media about my own parents dying.

To hear random people who never met you or your relative tell you how sad they are and how hurting they are when your close relative dies makes you feel as if they are using your relative
Is that true for everyone and should I have felt that way? No, but that’s how it felt

its one of my internet pet peeves

I think that says more about your cynical nature than anything else.
