It is starting too with the change in rules favoring offense. My interest in CFB has declined significantly more as I get further from college though. I used to be a complete CFB fanatic and now do not even catch all LSU games let alone most others. I was over the bama loss in about 5-10 minutes. I just can't get that upset about a bunch of teenagers/early 20 something kids not winning. I've maybe watched 10-15 minutes of bowl games outside of LSU and fell asleep during 2nd half of LSU game.

yep, it's called growing up I remember the days when I would be depressed for weeks after my team lost. Now I'll be upset for like 5 mins and then I don't give a shite anymore.

Basketball is my favorite sport and absolutely love it. Use to watch any game on. Now unless it's lsu or hornets I rarely watch outside of home underdog playing good team

Football same. I still keep up and cheer for notre dame but unless lsu I'm not nearly as emotionally invested like I use to be. Still will watch underdog or upset games

Use to really follow the the sabres but now playoffs only and that's if they make it.will casually watch rest of playoffs

Baseball can't watch unless it's cubs

Unless it's my team in any sport I've lost interest. Which is so odd because my love for sport hasn't waned at all but now that I spend Money and time going to my teams I'm financially and emotionally so much into my teams just don't have room for others

gotcha, that is what i thought.

ive never been a "rah-rah" type of guy; it always annoyed the piss out of me to attend games and chant OH-IO (for example) 100x a game.

frequently was accused of being a lesser fan because of it...

My interest has only increased as the years go by. I love tailgating and getting together for games with friends and family. The NFL is a big part of my Sept-Jan activities. I've always been a bigger pro fan than college though.

Sports will always be a big part of my enjoyment in life, but the older I get the less I get upset when my team loses.

i used to get into discussions about this with a friend back in law school (probably 2006ish)

i always hated the "rah rah" fans who really didn't know shite accuse me of being a lesser fan, when i thought having a better understanding of everything made more sense. she disagreed, fights on gmail ensued

Me too. And not just a little bit. It's been a big time decline in interest.

Same here

I didn't even watch the LSU bowl game. Went out to dinner in NOLA with a lady friend of mine and had a lot more fun.

Me.

It's over-produced. CFB is a sporting event. NFL is like a rock concert, more of a glitzy spectacle than a game.

Also, the salary cap and free agency have robbed the teams of their identity. Most try to retain a "nucleus" of stars to salvage this, but it's not the same.

Also, Saints won the Superbowl, so I'm good.

To me, that is the only thing keeping it mildly interesting. Those years when the Ravens and Bucs were winning it were awful. Even now, it seems like there are only 10 competent QBs and everyone else is junk. It's weird, I totally appreciate a defensive struggle in a college game, but I can't stomach it in the pros. Maybe because it's more of a challenge for college teams to get stops. This game on right now is to me. I'll be somewhat hyped for divisional round and conference championships.

I watch maybe two full Lions games a year. Even when they were good last year, I was usually asleep by mid first quarter.

One obvious advantage of college is the number of games. You can usually stumble on 3 or 4 good games per weekend. That's tough to do with pros.

My favorite thing to do up until a few years ago was go to 4 or 5 Mich and MSU games a year. Mich/ND '11 Denard armput miracle was the last straw for me. While the stadium looked amazing that night, I was freaking hung over/sobering up most of the game, pissing every five minutes, battling with white trash, jockeying for position in a tiny seat, etc., etc. I would much rather stay home at this point. Hockey is the only sport I really enjoy in person anymore.

Total interest in football is ebbing. The interest that I do have is actually shifting toward the NFL from college.

I'm very similar. The games dont upset me that much after a loss. Although during games I still get ticked. I was a coach for about 13 years and ate, drank and breathed all football. The last few years since I haven't coached I don't watch as many games except LSU, and NFL (because of fantasy except the Pats love their offense)

:raiseshand: I'm approaching 50 years old now, and while the NFL is my favorite sport outside of college football/basketball, I don't watch a lot anymore, and haven't been to a game in years.

I grew up a Bengals fan and watched their game yesterday. I was rooting for them, but it didn't really bother me when they lost. I watch the playoffs, but I don't have much of a rooting interest anymore, except for teams with UK players on them.
Overall, I'm that way with all sports (except when UK is playing), not just the NFL.

My enjoyment of the NFL season has waned over the years, and continues to do so with each year. I am into college ball considerably more.

It started changing for me with all the movement of players. You used to really identify with a team more because players more likely than not stayed a decade or more with one team.
