Anyone else feel like Tom Herman would be a nice fit at Southern Miss?

With the rumors that Herman will be gone soon, how about the Southern Miss job? Younger “big name” guy with an offensive mind. Fertile recruiting ground with nearby LA and AL and maybe even pulling some TX recruits.

I feel the stage was too big for him in Austin and I could see him flourishing in Hattiesburg.

not a bad fit actually.

i still think herman could be a solid coach at a lower level power 5/group of 5.

Absolutely. I don’t see him in the SEC, Big 10 or PAC 12.

I think Herman would do really well at a place like Cal. I could see him doing well in the ACC as well at a place like Va Tech.

I think Virginia Tech would be a great place for him. They have some tradition of winning from the Beamer years that has been destroyed by Fuente. They're also in a very easy division. If Herman could recruit well, he could improve them in no time.

Can he legally kiss the players there?

I know Mississippi is a little more “old fashioned” in their ways.

I would go OC at a big time achool and try for another P5 HC job somewhere besides the black hole that is Texas

Or look at a Cincy if Fickle gets hired somewhere

When's the last time USM has paid over a million dollars for a head coach?

I'm gonna predict that Tom Herman will never be a successful head coach again.

Would USM pay Fuente to go to Hattiesburg?

I think he is doing a fine job right where he is. At least enough to earn an extension.

A head coach doesn't fall from the University of Texas to Southern Miss in one year unless he went winless or killed somebody. Maybe not even then.
