IMO, it most certainly has.

Not too long ago it was by far the most prestigious award given in college football. Now it's become such a joke due to the media (mostly ESPN).

The Heisman is given out to "the most outstanding player in collegiate football." In the past few years, how often has the "most outstanding player" won it? Hell, how often are the "most outstanding" players even in the race for the Heisman?

ESPN has taken full control over college football from the rankings to the NFL draft and now to the Heisman. Pre-season they're already choosing who will be in the race, and by the 5th game of the season they have it narrowed down to about 5 players. And by the end of the season, each one of their little puppets have their favorite and suck up to him every second of face time they get. They hype up, who is their favorite and that player usually goes on to win.

Not saying the ones in the race this year and in past years aren't some of the best, but there are some great players who are often overlooked.

It's become absolutely pathetic how ESPN is controlling all of this. Take for example, just a few weeks ago when OU beat TT. Harrell didn't have his greatest game of the season, but still had an awesome game, and ESPN was already writing him off saying that his Heisman hopes were over. He'll still be going to New York this weekend, but it's ridiculous how they write him off based on one "bad" game that he had.

Anyways, this is just my opinion.

Tebow defines heisman IMO.

sucks that they just look at all the stats racked up by the b12 qbs.

2 interceptions against way better defenses? outfreakinstanding.

can single handedly change the game more than anyone else with his sheer will power. he wants it more than u. thats just how it is.

The Heisman usually leads to a loss in the NC game........so if my prediction is correct Bradford will beat out Tebow and Tebow and Florida will win the NC.

Exactly. It's disgusting.

I remember McCoy's stock dropping after the loss to TT. Never mind the fact that he drove them down for a last minute go ahead TD and had a good game overall.

The way ESPN lets it fluctuate and controls it makes me sick to my stomach. It's such a great award but it's being ruined.

Not to mention if you're not on the preseason watch list you basically have no chance, no matter how good you are.

Today on CFL they were even talking about how some people send their ballots in 2 or 3 weeks before the season is over. F'n ridiculous.

agreed and I think that's why it should be voted on after the bowls. If anyone thinks someone will win the Heisman on a non-bowl team, then they're an idiot.

This is getting me mad just thinking about how bad this award has become.

terrible. Every year there's new breakout players and to even have a watch list is the definition of retardation.

The only reason they got it right last year b/c it was actually an open running. It was a topsy turvy season which required the Heisman voters to actually look at performance. The preseason top 5 that the analysts started hyping in the summer ended up having mediocre seasons and it opened things up for people to get invited to New York based on performance and not preseason media love.

Doesn't get nearly enough love for that year:

76 Catches, 1202 Yards, 15 TDs

While being pretty much the only receiving threat on that team and having Reggie fricking Ball as his QB.

Last year's might have been one of the easier decisions in a long time. Tebow was on a different world in my mind. I couldn't care less about 4 losses when the person in question was thoroughly dominant.

and the thing is, it felt like everyone agreed that he was the best player that year, but he was never a serious contender for some reason.

yeah, and that's why Crabtree probably should've been #2 last year.

I also hate why statistics have become so relevant to who should win it.......So Brennan threw for 55 tds or whatever it was........did I think he was a top 5 player in cfb? HELL NO!
