The PDC 2026 World Championship matches started on 12/11 and will run through the New Year until the final match on January 3rd.

Most of the elite dart players of the world, and many hopefuls wanting to make their name in the game of darts are playing in matches with short breaks for Christmas and New Year's Day.

Darts has become a very lucrative profession if a player is good enough to be competitive on a steady basis with this year's champion pocketing $1,337,060 U.S. dollars.

Last year's winner was the young, but extremely talented Luke Littler who won it just before his 18th birthday and has amassed a small fortune in other wins these 2 years on tour, making him a very rich young man.

How hard is darts? I’m asking as an amateur with little knowledge. Obviously it takes a lot of precision.

If you have above average hand-eye coordination, quit your job and practiced 8hrs a day. Would you get good enough to be a pro?

I’m 80% sure the answer is yes for bowling, 100% sure the answer is yes for cornhole.

I’m not sure about darts.

Darts is not a hard game to learn. However, for some people, no matter how much they practice, they will never get above rank amateur.

It's like any sport to be honest. Some take to it like a duck to water and other sink like an anvil.

I've been playing since the late 80's, got decent at the local amateur level, won my share of money at local blind draw tournaments etc.------------but, and there's always a but----------the few times I ventured into the pro-am tournaments I only got so far and got eliminated.

The biggest name I ever played was a guy named Kevin Spiolek who, at the time, was ranked #10 in the world. Needless to say I was skunked in straight sets by him and sent packing.

Right now, the better players are coming through the youth league system they have set up in Europe where these kids are learning the game long before they are teens------and even then, only a handful will do well enough to make a living at it.

It's not only the ability to throw darts well, but as the Brits like to call it, they need to have "Bottle"------meaning the ability to put nerves aside at the most crucial times and still perform like they are playing in their own game room while on a stage in front of several thousand screaming fans and being streamed worldwide.

It's a great sport for drinking several pints of beer, whether playing or watching. The Alexandra Palace (the "Ally Pally") in London sell HUGE amounts of beer during tournaments.......
