Is that the goal? Or do you play to contend for titles?

He has 1, so there’s that. Only so many guys have that claim. Gets real thin once you get rid of mahomes and Brady coached teams.
I’d be real curious to see him coach a team with a viable qb. I don’t think he’s perfect but I think he’s pretty darn good overall.

It’s simply time to move on. It’s the same shite every year for the past decade. Winning records are pointless if you immediately crash out in the playoffs. And lately, their playoff games aren’t even close.
I like Tomlin. I think he’s a good coach. But this franchise has clearly stalled under him.

I didn't realize he hasn't won a playoff game in 8 years.
With a loss to the Browns, oof.

He lost one also. That Super Bowl win was over 15 years ago

Losing to the Browns with Baker Mayfield wasn’t nearly as bad as losing to the Tim Tebow led Broncos in the playoffs.

You forgot the part about him having never had a losing season. And the fact that he works for probably the most patient and loyal ownership in the NFL.

Wilson is probably a bandaid but I’ve never really liked him anyway…Pickens, #1 WR, doesn’t drop a couple passes last night that game is probably a W
Also time to move off Harris

They had the best roster in all of football for three seasons ‘15-‘17 and couldn’t even get through the divisional round. Tomlin has been bad since the coordinators and position coaches that he inherited from Cowher moved on or retired
The 2016 team lost the conference championship game.
Both 2015 and 2016 they lost to the eventual Super Bowl champions.

I almost think he should go back to Fields for the playoff game, but that may be too big of a change in this short amount of time. Russ started off strong this season, but he's been absolutely terrible during the 2nd half of the season. For 5 weeks straight the Steelers have not managed to score more than 2 touchdowns. You can't win football games with an offense that inept.

I went back and looked up that loss. CFF threw 4 interceptions.

If you listen to espn he is one of the greatest coaches ever. I’d like to see Mike McCarthy stats next to his.
Here ya go.
Tomlin:
Regular season: 183–107–2 (.630)
Postseason: 8–10 (.444)
Overall: 191–117–2 (.619)
McCarthy:
Regular season: 174–111–2 (.610)
Postseason: 11–11 (.500)
Overall: 185–122–2 (.602)

2016 they got to the conference championship game by beating teams led by Matt Moore and Alex Smith. Then got absolutely run off the field by the Patriots. 2015 they beat the Bengals led by A.J. McCarron. Then lost to the Broncos in another poor effort. That’s the entirety of Tomlin’s playoff success over the last 14 years.
The one year they actually had a bye in the playoffs in ‘17 they lost to Blake Bortles and the Jaguars.
It’s not those years we’re a great success. They beat up on teams with significant injuries and then didn’t show up against better competition.

He won a Super Bowl with bill cowher players.
Bill Cowher wasn’t the owner or general manager. This isn’t college

True. He did take over a team where the personnel was young and had just won a Super Bowl two years before. You can’t knock him for that.
Where he does deserve criticism is that when he took over as HC, all of the coordinators and position coaches stayed on from Cowhers staff. Once those coordinators moved on or retired, he has done a very poor job replacing them and has not had much success without them, especially in the playoffs.
The biggest knock on Tomlin is his abysmal record against bad teams in the regular season. Much like other years, it’s not the four losses against good teams that kept them from winning the division, it was a bad losses against the Brown and Cowboys that did them in.

The guy who became only the 14th player in NFL history to rush for 1,000 yards in his first 4 seasons. Okay Ryan Clark.

How much longer does he survive?
Steelers are in a precarious situation being in the same division as Lamar and Burrow. It's very difficult to win lots of games being in the same division as those two. Browns found out the hard way when they tried to "upgrade" the QB position by jettisoning Baker Mayfield for Watson.

The Ravens are 2-8 vs the Steelers over the last 5 seasons. The Bengals are 5-5 in the same stretch.
It’s not the divisional games that hurt the Steelers.
