Anybody think Luck may have retired so he could go to the XFL? His father is the commissioner of the XFL. I know it sounds crazy. But this whole story is crazy and something just doesn't seem right to me

Next time you think about starting a thread just remember this one.

Why go from making dollars to pennies? This is ridiculous.

This would be the worst financial decision ever as an athlete.

The only scenario i can see thats plausible is him wanting to coach or get into football management then maybe. But given his statements it sounds like he wants away period.

Who knows what Vince would pay him? It would be a huge deal for that league and I believe people would tune in to see Luck play

No.

You can't grasp that a guy that has had a lacerated kidney, torn labrum in his throwing shoulder, and a torn abdomen might be tired of it? His timing is shitty but it's not exactly crazy in that context.

The XFL won’t last one full season.

His whole issue is health and not even liking the game that much anymore. How is going to a lesser, probably more dangerous league going to help that?

He wasn't tired of it in February? March? April?

Why now? 2 weeks before the season starts?

It just seems like there's more to it than I'm tired of playing football.

Also his injury list grows by the day

It’s more likely that he is really suspended, like MJ’s first retirement

I’m pretty sure the guy has put some money aside.
He may just walk away.

Probably saw that the product on the field hadn't improved and he was tired of going out and doing the same thing and not getting anywhere.

You pretty well explain how it likely happened in the last two sentences of your post.

If you've ever known a high level athlete that's gone through multiple injuries and rehabbing those injuries, it's not easy. It can also frick with your mindset. There's a definite mental component to dealing with injuries like that.

People leave jobs all of the time because they grew unhappy with what they were doing. Why should football be any different?

Also weird that the news broke while he was on the sideline during the Colts 3rd preseason game

The only thing that could make sense is it may be less taxing on his body but still kind of dumb

Arguably the worst thread I’ve ever seen on here, which is a hell of a statement.
