I will read that later, thanks.
I remember Jerry "The King" Lawler was an announcer and he spent a fair chunk of the time drooling over cheerleaders.

I still remember sitting in the parking lot of Legion Field tailgating for an XFL game.

That's where I was after the game when I found out Dale Earnhardt died.

I wish they'd bring it back. It was entertaining.

1st and only real memory of the XFL -

It was the first weekend of games and they had a camera on the sidelines right next to the Head Coach and the stadium big screen was playing the video feed. It was fourth down and the team was in field goal range...the coach proceeded to call for a fake field goal during a timeout, while on camera...needless to say, the defense sniffed it out.

If the league had made it a few more years, the Fighting Gerry Dinardo's would have been a dynasty.

I'd totally watch some reruns. They actually had some interesting concepts.

The NFL should move to the XFL scramble to start games. They keep making kickoff returns harder, so why not?

Didn't someone get pretty badly hurt doing a scramble for the ball?

From the article:
quote:

VEIT: Whoever recovered the ball, that's how you'd determine who would kick off. My safety, first play, first game, sprained his collarbone and got lost for the season. It's not my favorite story.

ETA: And reading that article, I had completely forgotten that DiNardo was an XFL coach.

Very good read.

The sports media world is severely lacking in good long form articles.
