All star game only way to make it mean something

Let college basketball have a break before the stretch run...have a college all star team and nba team and let them play each other. College kids probably play harder and nba players slack like they are now but the shame of getting beat by a college team might make them put 50% effort into it. Pay the college players a big NIL payoff.

Do they not practice? Is this what a practice is like? They dont train because injury? The only time they go hard is during real games?

The tv watching public doesn't give a frick about college basketball until the first day of the tournament.
Go look at the 1st team all-American team the last few years. You have to go back to 2019 to find a team that produced multiple NBA starters. The G league team they put out there this weekend is the equivalent to the All-American team now.

How about each all-star puts up $1M of their own money and the winning team gets it all. Losing team hands over the bag at midcourt. On top of that, fill the lower bowl with IG baddies. I bet you’d finally see some D in the NBA ASG.

The OKC @ Minnesota game Thursday night might have been the best game I've watched all season. Those two teams that Dallas eliminated last year might be playing in the West Finals this season.

The only NBA All Star game suggestion I've heard that makes sense is for the NBA All Star game to take place the Sunday before the Super Bowl. That way we have regular season NBA games to watch once the NFL season ends. Having the break the week after the NFL season ended sucks. The NHL playing their Four Countries tourney the same week sucks too. As soon as the NFL ends basketball and hokey need meaningful games.
Is the worthless women's Unrivaled basketball league what's keeping NHL games from being on TNT? It's hard to find NHL games this season. I thought their new contract meant we were going to get more hockey. Any night there's no nationally televised NBA games, hockey should be playing on TV.

Maybe we need to quit trying to “fix” all star games and just let them go the way of the dinosaur.
They’re in season exhibition games, you’re not going to get players motivated to try in them and fans largely will never care anyway.
