LeBron
Duncan or KG (KG peak was better but Duncan had the longevity and better career)

C- Walton, Joker
PF- Pettit, McHale
SF- Bird, Barry, Havlicek
SG- West, Maravich
PF- Stockton, Nash

McHale can play 4 or 5, Havlicek can back up 2 or 3, and West and Maravich can both run the point.

Jordan/Kobe

KG/Duncan
KAJ/Shaq

Aside from bird, none of OPs team even makes this team. And bird isn’t starting

Peja for the bench stretch 3 wouldn't be bad either. Retired top 10 all time in threes.

wasn’t the pistol more of a dud in the nba?

24.2 points/game
5x all star
2x all nba

Not a dud. Just not as dominant as in college and he had injury troubles. Plus a bad heart as it turns out.

Played on a bunch of terrible teams too.

For “shooting guard” if he was healthy, he’d be hard to overlook.

That was ten years after his best two seasons

76: 18.6 ppg, 14.4 rebounds and 3.25 blocks
77: 18.9 ppg, 13.2 rpg, and 2.52 bp

His career was destroyed by injuries but the rare windows where he was healthy Walton was a MVP. He also showed surprising humility by willingly adopting the sixth man role. His ability and willingness to pass and defer when necessary were extremely unusual among former MVP winners.

On a team of all star players a healthy Walton would be an incredibly easy choice. Pair prime Walton with Jokic, Bird, Stockton, and West you'd have a team with defense, size, shooting, and unshakable confidence.

This is the equivalent of forgetting Jordan ever played for the Bulls and judging him on his two seasons with the Wizards.

Larry Bird said he was the best and favorite player he ever played with.

You could argue Walton is the greatest college basketball player of all-time, even over Kareem.

John Wooden said if he had to choose, he'd choose Walton over Lew.

To win the title over Dr. J.
