Our shitshow of a frontcourt held him to an average of 9 points and 8 rebounds in 3 meetings last year. I just don't see that being #1 pick material.

I don't even think he was the best freshman in the Terp frontcourt. Charles Mitchell had similar numbers once you account for minutes:

Len 11.9 PPG, 7.8 RPG (1004 minutes)
Mitchell 5.5 PPG, 5.4 RPG (598 minutes)

Len has terrible ball skills, has no court presence, and gets pushed around by the smallest bit of contact. He's tall. I get that. But I'm not sorry to see him leave the UM program. Honestly, I think he held the offense back because they kept forcing the ball to him and he was a dead end. He just looked lost out there.

I think Len, Bennent, and McLemore are the most talented players in the draft. Len has serious motivation issues and is the least likely to realize that potential IMO but I can see why the Cavs are at least considering him. Noel is terrifying, even beyond the knee issues, the stuff about blowing off agents and not answering calls from teams is very concerning.

Anyone besides Desaun Thomas is a terrible pick

I'm not saying he won't be the pick, but this rumor is being credited to Jimmy Smith of the TP. For those that don't follow the TP coverage of the Pelicans, the DRIVEMAN has more sources on the Pelicans than the TP, but now they have scoops on the Cavs? Len was in the day before for a workout, this probably came straight from Len's agent.

Just for comparison's sake...Devin Thomas was our best frontcourt player. He was undersized in a lot of matchups, but was very physical. And he outplayed Len in all 3 games, IMO. Their season numbers:

Devin
9.1 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 1.3 APG, 1.4 BPG, 50% FG

Len
11.9 PPG, 7.8 RPG, 1.0 APG, 2.1 BPG, 53% FG

Very similar numbers, yet Devin is a 6'9 freshman who was still adjusting to the college game, and Len is a 7'1 projected #1 pick in the NBA Draft. I really don't get it.

The thing that a lot of people are forgetting is that this is one of the worst drafts in recent history, at least as far as star power is concerned. There will probably be quite a few decent rotation players, but the top of the draft is probably as bad as 2006 where the top 5 was:

Andrea Bargnani
LaMarcus Aldridge
Adam Morrison
Tyrus Thomas
Shelden Williams

I agree. My point wasn't Mitchell is some diamond in the rough, but that a pretty meh freshman fighting for minutes was almost as productive. And Dez wells was so clearly the Terps best player, it hurts. And no one is lining up to draft him.

I mean, did anyone actually WATCH a Maryland game? There is no way you watched a Terp game and came away thinking he was an NBA talent.

This is 100% truth.

If a guy isn't considered #1 pick material in March, I'm not sure what he's done to warrant it in June. I know it's an underwhelming draft, but damn.

+1

Alex had a great game against Kentucky in the season opener and played well against Duke in the Maryland win at Comcast. Otherwise, I don't think he was much better of a college player than Will Bowers or Boom Osby. But height may overcome many limitations in some evaluastions.

Teams are going to draft him based on potential.

Lebron is controlling the Cavs picks. Len will be out for 4-6 months after his surgery. The Cavs will milk that and not play him til the end of the season....post another ridiculous record and get a lottery pick to add to the current roster, and then Lebron joins Kyrie, the have a good young center, and add to that with another lottery pick...Probably a # 1 again the way that kids luck goes. Probably draft Wiggins, and Lebron can finally get OH a title.

Having a high ceiling doesn't mean shite if you're not able to reach it due to either injuries or motivation issues.

Greg Oden may have had the highest ceiling in his draft class but he's only played about 71 games in his career while Kevin Durant is going to be a multi-time MVP winner.

when the draft is this much of a crapshoot with no clear stars you roll the dice with a high ceiling player imo. len to pels

Charlotte seems infatuated with him too at the #4 pick.

I could see a team like Charlotte ridiculous enough to give up too much to trade up to 1 to get a guy who will probably still be there at 4 also.

So they rather have a guy with less talent and ankle problems than the guy with more talent and knee problems. Interesting.

knees are the most important thing to a leaper. and noel's money is on his ability to jump. plus this kids is in the weight class of sg's.

Len is a much better pick than Noel. I would take Zeller over either one though
