If I remember correctly SI did an article just last year about NDSU. They'd have to expand their stadium and a bunch of other pricey expenses (travel, scholarship expansion, coaches, etc) to make the jump. Makes sense for them to stay competitive in the FCS

Just make the fricking jump to the FBS already, you’re not impressing anybody anymore. What’s the point of doing this year after year?

ND State could jump in right now and compete for the MAC title

go read up on the requirements for maintaining FBS status and the budgetary affects that the increase in status has on small athletic departments. it has nothing to do with winning.

Im a fan of the FCS and the road to the championship is awesome. They get to play 3 home games and then bring 12-15k to the championship game.

Pretty cool experience and better than going to a Little Ceasers Bowl

Why some of these teams like Appalachian State even made the jump makes no sense to me

App State, Georgia Southern and, especially, Coastal Carolina made no sense to me.

They would have to add what? 30 more scholarships?
Played north dakota, South Dakota and South Dakota state so they probably save in some travel costs
Then u factor in the other sports and those costs

The FCS in the 90s and early 2000s was tremendous and took a big hit when some of their powers went FBS.

Central Florida
Troy
App St
Marshall
Nevada

Alot of other teams should move down and actually make the league competitive. I'm looking at you Georgia Southerns, Troys and Bowling Greens of the world.

I'm more inclined to want more teams to join the FCS instead of being perennial bottom feeders in the FBS.

Those early 90s NLU McNeese games were legit

I still remind Vincent Brisby and Roosevelt Potts be Kerry Joseph.

The Sun Belt, MAC, and Conference USA should go to FCS.

ND is a tiny state.

Nobody should expect them to go to a conference with teams from MI or IL or even IA or MN.

Staying in FCS keeps them at the lower schollie limit where they can play others as limited as they are.

They aren't getting 22 more guys to want to go to ND that are worth anything. I am sure ND has its charms but not as a route to the NFL on a mass basis.

Why jump? It's an incredibly perfect place for NDSU. Kids and fans love the program and their coaches and players do get looks to move up. I wouldn't budge if I were them.

What if they held out for a big 10 spot?
they would need a new football stadium, they only hold 18,700 capacity
