Just make the fricking jump to the FBS already, you’re not impressing anybody anymore. What’s the point of doing this year after year?

ND State could jump in right now and compete for the MAC title

Why? If I'm an NDSU fan, alum, player, coach, I'd much rather have a chance to play for a national championship than to go to FBS with the best outcome being a MAC title and a trip to Detroit for a shitty bowl game.

Maybe they don't want to be stuck in the group of 5 for eternity

...not to mention the additional monetary strains it puts on an athletics department. Maybe they aren't financially capable of that move either.

some people prefer being a big fish in a small pond than a small fish in an ocean.

Likely. A lot of group of 5 FBS schools should drop down.

If there was a real playoff that included all schools, I’m sure they would make the jump.

You think they could run a gauntlet of playoff bracket against the LSU, Georgia, Oregon, Florida, Ohio State, Alabama, Penn State of the world ?

Meh. Being the king in fcs might be more money than FBS conference money

What if they held out for a big 10 spot? I mean hell I know it seems like a dumb idea but they would beat the hell out of Rutgers today if they played and probably would have any of the past 3 seasons.

Hmmm....win a MAC Title every few years and go to the Mattress City Bowl--or the Lawnmower Bowl, or the Soda Pop Bowl, or any other insignificant bowl game--or win National Titles?

Some of you just don't get it. Why some of these teams like Appalachian State even made the jump makes no sense to me. What, did the AD think if the play well enough the ACC is going to pick them up one day?

App State's ceiling is an NY6 invite as the top G5 schools where they will play some SEC team that maybe doesn't care to be there. They won't play for a National Title unless the FBS goes to a 16 (may even take 24) team playoff.

Sometimes being a big fish in a "little" pond isn't a bad thing.

I didn’t say that. But like other people have said, their ceiling in FBS is some terrible bowl, but if they had a shot at a championship, they might jump up. Of course they couldn’t win it now, but maybe they could at some point if there was a playoff open to them.

yep,I remember when Arkansas State was winning titles before they moved up.I couldn't understand why they would trade top dog for whipping boy.

I lost interest in their program after the move.

I enjoyed having two programs to pull for.

This board: there’s too many insignificant bowls blah blah blah

Also this board: NDSU should move up so they can peak with shitty bowl games in the Midwest.
