Got to remember about SPS, its real easy for them to slide to #5 or so and get an extra gimme playoff game against the worst seed in the bracket, before their real playoffs start in week 12

I hope, we lost a lot of key players but the program is solid and we have Hank Tierney so I would be shocked if we aren't fighting for the district title.

No playoff game is a gimme for SPS.

Scotlandville: 10-0. They were legit

That's because they're the only public HS in BR to take athletics serious and hire quality coaches

Are they still?

I know they used to be and all of their neighborhood kids had to be bussed all over BR. Alot of them used to go to Broadmoor, which USED to have a very good program in the 90's

Edit: I found my answer on Wikipedia. This is partially why Scotlandville has solid athletics now and Broadmoor fell off a cliff in football

quote:

During a period from the mid-1980s to the late 1990s, Scotlandville was a magnet only school that required a 2.5 GPA to stay in the school. It also housed the High School for the Engineering Professions, which required a 3.0 to stay in the program. Both of these requirements, and these programs, were cut in the late 1990s. During this period of time, there were no major athletics at the school (football, baseball and basketball), as the main focus was academic. When this change occurred, the school lost the majority of the staff and leadership of the school. After a nearly 10-year absence of the program, the school's varsity football team was re-instituted in the 2001-2002 school year. Scotlandville High competes in the highest athletic classification in the state which is 5A for all sports.

After watching various scrimmages Landry-Walker, Destrehan, West Monroe, Acadiana, Zachary, Parkway, John Ehret (even without starks) are the top dogs and every single one of them has a shot of winning it.

I noticed Landry Walker has a new QB that looks sharp. Where he come from? Anybody know?

Ehret West Monroe game is going to be money.

Bump... Mandeville under and Shaw under look like winners already... As well as Sam Houston over, and dare I say Barbe and West Monroe over?

Forgot the Landry Walker under... And JJ looks like you're gonna lose if you take all those overs at the number. If I give you a win or two or three and let you pick what teams though...

Don't ask me why I remembered this thread, but since the HS regular season has ended, I thought it would be interesting to see how close our resident HS guru chalmetteowl got to the actual totals and how others in the thread did. Very impressed with my Gators this year. Did not think they would do as good of a job as last years team but they did just as good and possibly better because they won district. Coach Oliver is a great football coach and his coordinators are great too. Coach O has turned St Amant football around and we are starting to compete now. Went from taking over a team that couldn’t even win a game to being a top 5 seed at the end of the regular season and making runs in the playoffs. Here’s to the playoffs and GEAUX GATORS!
