Goodell wanted the NFL to be about "branding" so he wanted the same generic logo each season.

Really, Roger? The #1 sports organization in America needs "branding"? GTFO.

This one would be one of the best on that sheet if it wasn't followed up by 5 of the same damn thing.

Let's bitch about Goodell for something else he really did not control.

Let's see ref lockout, Roger's fault (no not really)
New safety rules, Rogers fault (no not really)
Personal Conduct, Roger's fault (nope)

The logos went downhill after the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl

Lots of fun logos there. I particularly like 1979 and several of them in the 1990's. They were more colorful and showed some personality.

I agree that the Lombardi trophy logo is a nice design, but it is lame that is the only one they use. Maybe if they just used it every 5 or 10 years.

Also, I liked the Roman numerals in the beginning, but now I just think they make it difficult to know which one it is. I think they are using 50 for this year, but they are going back to roman numerals after that. I wouldn't mind them switching to regular numbers. What do others think?

1990 is my favorite. Simple, easy to read, good looking.

I didn't think Superbowl 2 was called "Superbowl" at the time.

Incorrect. He is the guy taking the arrows for his bosses, the owners. He is very competent at what he does. If he was incompetent the owners would remove him. I am sorry you do not understand that the owners are the driving force behind everything in the NFL. The worst thing ever for the NFL owners was that the NFLPA got someone who understands the law and knows what they are doing in DeMaurice. Gene Upshaw was a joke.
