But why can’t they? What’s keeping them from getting better and developing better guys? I know Goldsby is a dump but it’s still much better than most juco fields.

I think its possible but its gonna take a special group of coaches to get the job done. There are a ton of really good players in the area, the thing is they need to realize that they will play in a dump with no work out facilities and not have some of the nicer things like the Mississippi and Texas jucos. But if they win things could change. Youre gonna need players who arent soft and coaches that can find them and develop them for a not so great salary. Im sure somebody will accept the challenge and I wish them luck. You shouldnt have to go too far to find the players the river parishes is full of em. Robichaux called them hose pipe players. Thats what i think they need. Its still gonna be a tall task to get LSU caliber players from BRCC. Hell LSUE doesnt send many there and they win alot of games.

Today, it's because of the portal. It would have to be an almost miracle for a guy who was only good enough to play at BRCC to become better than the D1 portal transfers that are at the LSU level. Sure, BRCC should be able to develop a couple of low to mid level D1 players, but not top SEC level. If it happens, lots of scouts just completely missed.
Goldsby is far better than it was 8+ years ago. You can chalk that up to long hours put in by LJ and then money later added by the TCL/Rougarou. The absolute worst part of the situation is the location. Go sit thru 3 games on consecutive nights. I guarantee you will hear gunshots more than once.

Obviously without giving name or prior coaching experience, why is he a terrible hire? Dude knows how to get the most out of every single player and creates a great culture.
