- Marte goes on the DL, Pirates calls up their #2 (MLB #42) prospect Austin Meadows. Really interested in seeing how he does at the big league level.

- Mets OF Juan Lagares likely out for the season with toe injury (Complete tear of the big toe plantar plate).

- Cards SS Paul DeJong goes on the 10 day DL. Cards recall Yairo Munoz and OF Tyler O'Neill.

- MLB.com talks about how Pedro's strikeout rate could be broken by either Cole or Scherzer LINK

- Decent games this week but nothing that really truly sticks out. Nationals and Dodgers play this weekend in what a lot of people considered a preview of the NLCS. Dodgers are falling fast and the Nationals are starting to play to hype that was predicted at the beginning of the season.

Thought the Indians would be playing better than what they are at this point in the season. Seems like they can't break away from the .500 mark. Should be some good pitching matchups this weekend:

Fri - Clevinger / Morton
Sat- Kluber / Keuchel
Sun - Carrasco / McCullers Jr.

I'll call it now. There is a 0% chance the Cardinals make the playoffs.

No doubt, little added juice because of Bauer’s pine tar claims

They're 21-21 through 42 games this year. They were 23-19 through 42 in 2017.

They were actually 20-19 on May 19 last year going into a weekend series in Houston that they swept.

Anybody think we will have any interesting races in the AL? Yankees and Red Sox in the AL East is the only interesting race and the loser probably host the wild card. NL doesn’t really have a great team so far this year and it feels like it will have a great playoff race in the NL this year.

I think Astros/Angels could get interesting.

Chances are both of those race losers are wild card teams, but maybe someone elsw is close.

Yankees/Red Sox and Astros/Angels are going to be fun races to watch. I would throw Seattle in the mix but I don't know a whole lot about them. They have been pretty decent so far this season but I don't know if they got the roster to keep up with both the Astros and Angels deep into the season.

Yeah...I just believed before the season started, they would have taken off and dominated the Central and have a better record compared to what they currently have. They prob. will eventually go on one of those long winning streaks again and possibly make a few changes around the deadline.

Problem with Seattle is they just lost Cano for 80 games and they don’t really have the prospects to go get any top of the line guys at the deadline

ETA: Angels used to be the same, but they’ve got a few pretty good guys in the minors now

They have prospects, it would just cost their #1 because it is not a lot of depth.

That’s what I was getting at I guess. Doesn’t make sense to mortgage the future for a WC2 and with Dipoto just getting there, I’m sure he’s got a long term vision

Here is a article on MLB.com today discussing what possible trades Seattle could do. One option is them going after Manny and I just don't see them doing that when the chance of resigning him is very low. All of these "possible" trades would require them giving up at least one of their top 3 prospect.

Nationals and Dodgers has been postponed. It has been raining everyday since Tuesday here in the DC area. They will play a double header tomorrow.

I'm close to the point of just saying get rid of everyone and start building up prospects like the Braves...but I'm sure we would screw that up as well

Looking over their prospects, they have none that is listed in the top 100 list. I think they could sell off some of their good players and get some good prospects in return. The question would be....would they be able to keep deGrom and Syndergarrd through a rebuild?

Is that SS still considered a prospect? He was highly ranked then they have a young staff, Nimmo, and Confonto. So they have the pieces it seems
