It wil be a really interesting day and a pretty big deal, I think.

BSPN will overhype it and the fans will make too big a deal of it. A lot of their teammates already know so it won't be much of an issue in the locker room.

Best time to hold the press conference might be when there are one or two other big stories happening or about to happen. That would mute the media circus/distraction.

For the record, I wouldn't be surprised if it were Julio Jones, but I doubt he'd be the one to come out publicly

ETA: And I'm a Falcons/Alabama fan; not a Saints fan trying to make a joke

I agree with this...Also, if Julio Jones came out it would do wonders for the state of Alabama in terms of tolerance...

Exactly. Racism in Alabama really starting diminishing when blacks starting playing football and being great at it. If you can love someone as a football player, you begin to love him as a person. The real problem with homophobia is that sexuality's not written on your sleeve like race is. It's going to take the very difficult move to literally come out and say it to make a difference. And the fear of the possible negative consequences is what's holding people back

Good point.

I bet NTP could come out of the closet and still have the full support of the Bama fan base.

I don't think it will be overhyped or too big of a deal will be made. It WILL be a big deal, it would do huge things for the gay community

BSPN beats every story to death, whether there are important social implications or not.

I see your point there, but it would be a lot better if it didn't matter.

Imma just drop by to say that being gay and being a different race are NOT the same thing.

So you're saying if your daughter is a lesbian, you're going to murder her. Ok.

If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads. (Leviticus 20:13)

Yeah pretty much sums up that gays and lesbians if killed is not really murder since they should be put to death.
