RSHV Sports Article

This is by far the largest group of lA seniors heading on to play at the next level & this is merely from 1 of the 5 areas of the state actively playing high school level lacrosse. I believe the largest group moving up before in the state was a total of 20. Now we have 30 just from the 318.

LSU

So they are still paying for school and just joining a club lacrosse team?

Or does LSU give out lacrosse scholarships? In fact, do any of those schools listed give out lacrosse scholarships?

Only Division 1 & 2 lacrosse programs can offer athletic scholarships.

Rollins, Limestone, & North Greenville are all Div. II.

Centenary & Univ. Of Dallas are Div III, fully funded.

LSU, La Tech, Ole Miss are club & players do pay to play. However, the club game has grown to recruit. Most of these players have chosen their school with lacrosse as a large pro for their final choice. They will be representing their high schools & colleges very well.

Over 1000 people showed up to the state finals over the weekend.

But you're right, no one cares.

LSU just won a conference title
Limestone is a regular Div. 2 national tournament team with multiple national titles.
North Greenville lacrosse is a newer program in a growing conference.
Rollins in only 1 of the best business colleges in the south & a strong member of the Sunshine State Conference. Their womens team is also excellent.
La Tech is growing & winning more than they have before.

Please tell us more about the college level athletics you participated in.

Rome wasn't built in a day.

Last year LA sent the 1st player to a D1 program (Furman) in nearly 15 years.

The sport is growing & turning out quality talent. And will only keep going.

If athletes from Louisiana started playing lacrosse, how much could it change the landscape of the game?

Texas has already made its profound effect on the game in the last decade.

Dallas has likely produced the 2020 or 2021 Tewaaraton winner (the Heisman trophy of lacrosse) in Nakeie Montgomery. He's at Duke, lighting the game up.

NOLA & Baton Rouge easily have the athletes to send up the ranks in the next 5-10 years as the game grows in LA.

Women's Lacrosse will grow due to Title IX. No way more D1 schools add both mens and womens lacrosse.

WLAX is the ticket to add MLAX. Either that or just big donation checks (see Utah mens lacrosse).

MLAX needs the WLAX roster spots/scholarships to help close the gap. Someday, football HAS to be removed from the equality equation because there is simply no other women's sport that has as many slots.
