No you won one, LSU won in 03. You can try and claim it as a split but LSU won the NCG

avoid the best SEC team both years, how lucky. What a different time we live in where OU would get the benefit of the doubt over USC(after losing to Kstate) or an undefeated SEC team.
whatever happened to that crazy onepete guy that use to post here?

I really wish LSU fans could get over this. There were many splits in the past it doesn't seem to bother anyone else.
As for the BCS was supposed to name 1 champ argument. The BCS should have gotten the AP and most importantly the NCAA on board in that case, but they did not, so the BCS named their champ and the AP theirs. Since the BCS was the more prestigious of the 2 I'm glad that LSU won that one. That USC got the AP does not in any way take away from LSU's accomplishment or slight LSU in any way shape or form. If you want to be angry at someone, then you should be angry at the BCS and the NCAA, not USC or even the AP.

Could a team miss the playoff and be crowned AP champs? Didn't every team accept the BCS title game as the title game? There is now 1 game that every team is trying to reach and win, and the same thing was true in 03. USC didn't win THE National Championship.
They might have been the best team, I don't know. I can honestly say that I'm 99.9% sure that if Alabama got left out of the BCS championship, but was awarded the AP #1 spot, I'd not even alnkwledge it. I'd watch the BCS NC, and that would be the champion. They got what Alabama wanted, not the other way around.

in 2003 OU was #3 in the human polls, if the BCS formula that was used the last 8 years of the BCS was in place that year, it would have been USC v LSU, no controversy.
In 2004, OU was also unbeaten, 2004 was actually the "worst" year for the SEC in the BCS era in terms of conference winning percentage so it wasn't the same SEC we saw in 2006-2012.

technically yes. They could also name a team that doesn't win the NCAA tourney champ, but no one would care. The only scenario I could see them not naming the playoff winner in FB however would be maybe there was a team that was undefeated but got left out some-how and a 1 or 2 loss team won? But extremely unlikely.

that was the goal yes, I'm pretty sure USC would have rather played there, but it was an unusual situation. They were #1 in the traditional polls. If the situation was reversed, LSU fans would have burned something down

Does that mean you only acknowledge 6 or 7 titles for Bama and not 15?
I'm about 110% certain that if Alabama was ranked #1 in both polls and got left out there would have been a riot.
I'll say this, if the 2011 BCS CG had been say 21-20 or 9-6 and the AP gave LSU the title (one voter voted us #1 anyway) hell yes I'd count it.

This was a terrible documentary. Worst 30 for 30 I have seen. One big USC BJ.

And I couldn't care less about the amount of titles Alabama has. It's a ton, it's more than most. I don't and won't ever brag about how many titles they have.

theres really no controversy. its a split title. the only people that care about this still are LSU fans. SC is the team that got screwed by being #1 in both human polls and left out

what does NFL success have to do with a players college career? I mean by that logic, guys like Tebow, Russell, Wuerfel, Ward, etc were all overhyped players as well, right? IMO, this is arguably one of the dumbest arguments in sports these days.
Russell was overrated if you are talking about Jamarcus. They won the title the year before he became starting QB and they won the title the year after he went to the NFL.
As for the rest, were they top 15 draft picks? How many USC players were and turned out to be garbage? Bush, Leinart, Mike Williams and Sedrick Ellis immediately come to mind.

I do and it was a joke, relax. Bama counts 15, imo it should be 9 or 10, which is still the most which begs the question, why does Bama feel the need to count 15. Though in 1978 you lost to USC in Bham and still split the title with them.

There was no multi-round playoff in CFB in 2011, because we were told "every game is a playoff" turns out that wasn't the case that one year. If there was, like the 2008 NFL or the NCAA tourney, then it would be different. Under the BCS format there should not have been a rematch especially since Ok State wins the blind resume test.
The Patriots were the best team in 2008, that season is exhibit A of why I hate expansive playoff fields anything can happen in 1 game, i prefer smaller fields, I think the current 4 team set up in CFB is basically perfect (I would prefer only conference winners, but i think that will be the case 95% of the time anyway. Sadly it will probably expand soon to 8.

Leinart,Williams & Ellis did not live up to the hype that they received. But that shouldn't be the end all be all. It's pretty moronic that so many of you can not separate a prospects CFB and NFL career.

You're right. It was my mistake to call Bush garbage. But it damn sure wasn't worth the 2nd pick in the draft for a decent but journeyman RB.
I remember everyone thinking that the Texans were out of their freaking mind because they had the audacity to pick Mario Williams #1 over him.

It's such a ridiculous argument. There's so many other factors that come into play once a players gets to the NFL. Guys like Leinart and Jamarcus got huge contracts up front. Is it possible they just weren't as motivated anymore?
