I almost bet ULM for the spread. Thought to myself “yea they suck but this game is always close and 30 points is a lot”. Got to the end to submit the ticket and couldn’t talk myself into it.

So glad I didn’t

NLU sucks - Not Even Worth It

USL Sucks - Go To Hell USL

La Tech would beat the dawg spit out of either of them.

Actually if they combined the two teams Tech would still have better players and destroy the Louisiana ISD.

It took a miracle catch for La Tech to beat a bottom 10 Southern Miss team. I highly doubt that.

Tech hasn’t played in a month...I think Cajuns would roll Tech this year though.
BUT when they have played Cajuns are 0-8 against Tech. UL-L hasn’t won since the early 90’s!!!! Lol

This year's Cajuns team would've done the same thing to those past Cajun teams that they did today. Some of those teams from the late 90s were worst that what ULM showed up with today.

Yes, that bad.

Come on, baw! We beat Wofford by a field goal in a classic at Cajun Field back in ‘99!

Some great memories back in the dungeons of Cajuns football:

1997:

-North Alabama (Division II, NOT I-AA) LOSS

1998:

-Northwestern State LOSS

1999:

-OT win against Wofford

2000:

-Sam Houston State LOSS
-Northwestern State LOSS
-Jacksonville State LOSS

From 1997-2001, the Cajuns went 9-41.

Looks like the basketball team really sucks this year
of course they do. Our savior is a fricking pasty arse white frick.

My junior year was so much fun when we made the sbc title. Everything else concerning every other sport since then (including the ones I competed in) has sucked.

Looking back, Nelson Stokley was probably just tired of fighting Martin Hall towards the end of his tenure. 7 of his first 10 seasons were winning seasons, finishing Top 2 in the Big West Conference the three years we were in it. Then his last three: 5-6; 1-10; 2-9...as then-President Ray Authement ramped up his bleeding out of USL/UL Athletics.

That's why as much as we like to make fun of our in-state conference mate in Monroe, I actually feel bad for them because they're going through the same shite we suffered in the 90s and early 2000s.

We feel your pain, Pedro.

Problem is, ULM has been suffering through this shite since then as well. Even more so, since they made the leap out of the Southland but that is another story all together. The lone blip on that radar was in 2012 when they had a somewhat decent year where they beat a #4 ranked at the time Arkansas that ended up being grossly overrated, going to OT with a decent Auburn team the following week, and getting to the Independence Bowl that somehow almost put them in match-up with Tech. However, Tech skipped out and ULM in it's shot at a Cinderella season, shite the bed and lost which is only typical for anything associated with ULM athletics.

We had absolutely no resources to recruit to, and the recruiting budget dwindled even more every time we would win. Why? Dr. A thought "Well, why do you need more? You can win with what you're being given now."

Now, we have a President who supports athletics with an AD with SEC experience who knows what he's doing. It's frustrating that this happened back in the day because if we would've put in the efforts back then that we are putting in today, no telling where we would be right now.

No joke. I think of this often. If Ray-Ray had not held us back during the booming times, and instead approached it with the same vigor that Dr. S is doing now, there is little doubt we would be light years from where we are now.

I've posted a couple times about the stories I've heard about how Dr. A's University functioned. Some years ago, a large company donated a money generating asset to the academic program I graduated from. It amounted to a photo op and good press for the company but it meant a lot more to the employee of that company who went through all the avenues to facilitate that donation.

The idea behind the donation was to generate funds to send students to conferences, innovate curriculum tools that made the program the best of its kind etc.. what ended up happening was that Dr. A directed the asset and its revenue into the university general fund.

That meant that the revenue that was specifically generated for this program went into a broad pot of funds and the program director had to make itemized requests for funds and justify every dollar. Like you said, "why do you need more?". In my conversation with the program director I was told that in the years the University has had this asset, very little of the revenue generated has been put back into the program the donation was intended for. The guy that worked so hard to secure the donation was absolutely disgusted with how mismanaged it was.

I assume athletic donations were similar. Into the University fund and then athletics had to justify spending it.

This was true across the board at the school, but the stories you will probablly hear the most about are all the struggles that Tony R. went thru to build the baseball program. Pretty much told from day one that there would be no money allocated to the program.....uniforms, etc....and in fact, it happended often that money that was donated for baseball ended up in that general fund that you mentioned. Given all those obstacles, it is amazing to see what UL baseball has become today. And all pretty much due to Coach Robe alone.

I'm now curious as to what you graduated in as I know of something similar with the program I was in.
