Ross Chastain will attempt to complete all 1,101 miles at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend.

- Cup: No. 1 (Trackhouse Racing)
- O’Reilly: No. 9 (JR Motorsports)
- Truck: No. 45 (Niece Motorsports)

No, not “The Double,” but 1,101 miles of NASCAR action!

The problem is the car and Nascar pushing away their most loyal fans chasing young ones who flip flop so quickly.

And this is what you get. Over 20 years they lost 80% of viewers. And still won’t fix the car

Also to note. NOAP is up in ratings so its not the type of ratings system being used is the problem. Its the car. Its the booth. Its the TV production. Its the changing to 3 different main carriages during year and then sub stations. Its putting 5 races in streaming and those fans who boycott streaming never come back afterwards for finish of season.

NOAP is beating 10 year viewership records. This alone should tell Nascar a good car plus a good booth plus good TV production will net more viewers. Strange concept that the front office will never connect the dots for Cup

Interesting

Bob Ramsey
@BobRams35440344

Just an observation. Charters have stopped owners starting a 2nd or 3rd car. Charters have kept new teams from comin in. Talented O'Reilly drivers can't move up so drivers behind them can't move up. The backlog of talent is growing more than ever due to no open seats.

I’m not well versed with this, but why can’t they increase the number of charters and get to a 43 car field again? There is talent in the lower series so the full field will be as competitive as ever with no start and parks.

Jr. was talking about silly season on his podcast. You’ve got Love, Mayer, Creed, and Day ready to go.

Good question. Is it possible adding new charters decreases value of existing ones? And Nascar won’t let any teams add a 4th charter.

Its hard for new teams to break in because of car counts and no charter they can’t afford to attempt races and not get in. Sponsors want to see their car make the race.

Nascar has created a problem. If they increase car count to 43 then we would see new teams.

Even increasing the number of cars by one for solid teams would help. Remember when Rousch Fenway had all 5 of their cars in the chase?

When they originally capped teams at 4 cars Nascar was different. Teams still made most of their cars from scratch and this was done to prevent one team monopolies.

But nowadays most parts are Nascar controlled so that advantage is way less.

NOAP

Per @TheCW_Sports, last weekend's O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race at Dover Motor Speedway had 1,030,000 total viewers.

This marked the 14th consecutive race with more than 1 million viewers, which is a new record for the series on CW.

The all-time series record overall is 15.

Cup Cars need to return to 2014/15 days.

These things are just too slow especially at Talladega and Daytona. Give guys more of a challenge.

Jeff Gordon running over 200 at Michigan for the pole needs to be the standard to go after.

I can't remember who it was but either a driver, or owner basically said that the cost savings of going to a spec chassis aren't really there.

The chassis' are expensive. The race teams used to be able to recoup their costs of fabricating by being able to sell an older chassis to a smaller Cup team, NOAP team, or an ARCA team.

He also implied that they are now spending the money they used to use for fabricating and testing on engineering and sims.
