They could save some money and wait to buy the next upgraded engine.

Salary cap world and all

I don't really know how that works, but that sounds like a good plan. Wouldn't Caddy and Haas also have the extra money to use for these upgrades?

Not sure how that works. My guess is that the customer teams commit to buying a certain amount of engines as part of the contract so they are taking a "new" engine at some point. Not sure how upgraded engines work for price.

Im pretty sure engine development is a different pool of money than regular salary cap. Maybe the customer teams get an allowance for buying the upgraded engines. Never thought about it that way.

According to this article I read, Haas and Cadillac have received the updated power units from Ferrari. Haas is not using it this weekend. Supposedly we won't know until tomorrow morning if Cadillac opted to use it.

quote:

For the time being, Haas does not plan to use Ferrari’s new power unit—which becomes available from this weekend in Austria. Cadillac, also a Ferrari customer team, will announce on Friday whether it will run the new Ferrari engine.

It has been stipulated that once Ferrari has a new engine, all its customer teams must also have access to it. Indeed, Haas and Cadillac have received updated power units from Ferrari, but at least Haas is not using them. Ayao Komatsu, the team principal of the American squad, will not disclose why Haas is opting against using it.

Just finished watching the weekend warmup show and JPM figured it would be a Mercedes 1-2 George-Kimi and then Max.

I’m with you on the Ferrari thing. Let them catch up for a bit.

They talked about how McLaren is going to be testing their Flippy Floppy wing but not racing it necessarily. Wasn’t aware they were about it have one too.

Red Bull’s seems good and they’ve got a significant upgrade they’re rolling out this weekend.

Max's manager: "We do need a package that allows us to compete at the front. That has always been the foundation. We feel at home at Red Bull, but we do want to be competitive. Ultimately, Max wasn't born to compete in the midfield."

"We now have the time to focus on the performance of the car. That has nothing to do with leaving or not leaving. We just want to see where we stand and how the car is developing. And that means we don't have to say 'yes' or 'no' right now. We have agreements and we are sticking to them."

Hopefully its just a bump in the road

They have been pretty steady and shown improvement

If Checo hadn’t committed a dumb penalty, they would have a point

Do you think they notice something like that in real time? Is Sir George whinging on radio about getting flipped off or does he find out later from social media?
