It's perplexing, but apparently it's working for him. I' as shocked as everyone else. I just wonder if we get a Kanye/Lamar level melt when it goes south.

I’ve seen better on the Quad.

RB and Merc filing appeals by the deadline... This is such a clusterfrick.
LINK
Yes, Gasley was wrongly penalized, but so were a handful of other drivers, who served their penalties. Gasley didn't, so was cut and dry just to eliminate the 10 second penalties and move him up the grid.
The FIA should have admitted the frickup and said that the standings are what they are due to the complexity. From now on, there is 0 incentive to actually serve the PIT penalties or drive throughs as even when you're in the right, you still get fricked.

FIA definitely screws this one up

I agree, they have definitely opened a can of worms with this decision. Need to just give the trophy back to Hadjar and close the book on this.

Not sure what Merc and RBR expect to be done.
The incentive is still the same to serve the penalty. You have to prove the FIA wrong which is a tall task. Merc knew this and made their decision. Would likely make the same decision if presented today.

I don't see how they can now.. I mean, technically they could just add 5 seconds back to those that served in the PITs, but for Russel, how do you assign back the drive through? Calculate difference in time between driving the straight vs driving down the PIT lane

You don't. It sucks but that is the result.
Maybe they get the fine removed

That’s why I say just give it to Hadjar. He was on the podium, he got to celebrate. Giving the trophy to Pierre 2+ weeks later isn’t the same. FIA screwed this one up.

Gasly crossed the line first though.
Hadjar only got the podium because the FIA was admittedly wrong.
Hadjar deserves the podium the least. He was only in the hunt because of the FIA

Toto is feeling the pressure from Ferrari, already talking about giving team orders.
"Today, we tried to race fair in the team game but maybe it has cost us the win today," Wolff told Sky Sports in Spain. "That's something that we need to discuss with the drivers: how we are doing it if we are fighting somebody else for a race win?

This is becoming a repeat of last year with McCaren and Max. Toto was making fun on how McClaren was handling it. Now the shoe is on his foot and he is making the same decisions as McClaren

He needs to talk about reliability

It's even crazier than that. If you're not looking for it, you wouldn't notice it, but it's actually a pull-tab that's maybe 4mm in diameter. Looks like it hit it just right to dislodge it.

I guess it's all the drama with the cars and new engine regulations but this is the most boring/disinterested I've been in F1 since I started watching. I'm still watching all qualifying and races but I find myself fast forwarding more than ever. Even in 2023 when Max had the most dominant season ever, it was more entertaining than this.

I always appreciate you posting the tweets that I normally wouldn’t see but this CGI video of the incident is strange.
There’s actual footage and pictures and yet it seems like someone created this fake video for clicks.
