Lance Stroll is going to race GT3 cars this weekend.

“ Stroll will race in this weekend's GT World Challenge Europe season opener at Paul Ricard for Aston Martin squad Comtoyou Racing, sharing an Aston Martin Vantage GT3 with sometime F1 driver Roberto Merhi and Aston Martin F1 academy driver Mari Boya.”

I wonder if Aston are concerned Stroll may get injured and can't race any longer

Just saw Max's engineer is heading to Mclaren in 2028... Awfully long way away to announce now.

“Max Verstappen’s long-serving race engineer, GianPiero Lambiase, will leave Red Bull to join McLaren. Lambiase, 45, has been a core figure throughout Verstappen’s F1 career, working as his race engineer since his debut for Red Bull back in 2016 and through his streak of winning four straight F1 world championships between 2021 and 2024. But Lambiase will now leave Red Bull in order to take up a senior role at McLaren in the next couple of years, sources speaking on condition of anonymity to protect relationships have confirmed to The Athletic”

Gardening leave.

Agreed that 18 months out seems unusually long. Might be due to mid-season. Finish Red Bull contract at the end of the year then 6 months or so.

Video floating around now of an old interview with Max in which he says "If GP leaves, then I leave"

Wonder if Max quits mid-season, goes and races GT3 and waits for F1 to get their shite together. 0 reason for him to stay at this point.

Hates the new regulations
His car is a shitbox
Helmut Gone
Newey Gone
Race Engineer Gone

quote:

Lambiase's impending Red Bull exit comes against the backdrop of four-time world champion Verstappen mulling over his own future in the series, having been disillusioned with 2026's all-new technical regulations. Verstappen's current Red Bull deal expires at the end of 2028, but the Dutchman is known to have various exit clauses that can be triggered as early as this summer if he wanted to get out sooner.

Does Max seem like a quitter who gives up when things don't go perfect for him?

GP leaving is maybe more of an indictment that Max is leaving RBR. Not sure how much you can read into GP's destination.

No, he's said as much... He was happy when he wasn't winning, but enjoyed the competition and racing.

He hates the new regulations and is already teetering on continuing on or jumping to other series he enjoys until F1 returns to what it should be.

GP leaving is just another kick in the nuts and a person can only take so much negativity. before they say "frick it"

I'm not sure I have ever seen such a thing in F1, like quitting 3 races into the season, but I guess you never know.

I really enjoyed hearing he and Max talk. Lambiase has a golden voice.

Odd timing for sure to announce that far out. I know GP said he didn’t want to be anyone else’s race engineer. Seems like Red Bull was looking to promote him recently.

They also just had a mechanic that had been with them since 2005, been to every Grand Prix suddenly quit.

Here’s who has already left Red Bull:

2025
Adrian Newey (Chief Technical Officer)
Jonathan Wheatley (Sporting Director)
Christian Horner (Team Principal)
Michael Manning (Control Systems Engineer)
Tom Hart (Performance Engineer)
David Mart (Power Unit Engineer)
Matt Kohler (Chief Mechanic)
Helmut Marko
Honda (end of partnership)
2026
Will Courtenay (Chief Strategist)
Craig Skinner (Chief Designer)
Gary Butters (Gearbox Specialist)
Ole Schäck (Senior Mechanic)

Theres a funny meme circling the socials right now... Its the Godfather meme with them all sitting at the table and Pacino being the only one left after they all die off.

Max is Pacino and all the others are Horner, Helmut, Newey, GP
