I assume he wants to get rid of the cost cap so they can flood the sport with even more Middle East oil money. Everything I’ve seen says the cost cap has helped shrink the gaps between teams in qualifying. Gaps had gotten up to around 6 seconds between the leaders and the last teams. Now that gap is closer to 1.5 seconds. I don’t think Haas would still be a team if it wasn’t for the cap. As it is now most teams are still spending around double what the cap is when all is said and done.

I've been around long enough to not believe a word.
More coming out on this topic. Sounds like Oakes and his now detained brother might have been doing some light treason.
Seems to be pointing towards money laundering. Oakes seems to have skipped town to the UAE possibly trying to avoid extradition and arrest.
THIS is quality off week F1.

The gird has been missing that sleazy criminal element of grids of past. Nice to see Oakes is a man of tradition. I look forward to Storey's take on the situation.

I don’t know much about Oakes, but will yall post any news that comes out of this?

Seems to imply he was working with Daddy Mazepin. Mazepin gifted Oakes a race team days before sanctions hit Russia.

nascar is up this year overall i believe. and that's a nice number being on fs1...f1 not having the nba lead in is showing. that demo is very interesting.
If you recall, F1 beat Nascar a year ago in Miami vs Tx races.

I was only able to bump it up to 720p. Weird.
The ESPN/Disney model for all non NFL sporting events.

So Mazepin gave 75% of the company to Oliver but no money ever exchanged which likely makes it a proxy arrangement to shield assets and sanctions.
No wonder Netflix were camped outside Alpine from fp1 until teardown.
Yep,I still don't believe a word they say.1

No f1 this weekend, but two other good races: WEC is at Spa for a 6h race, and Indy is racing the infield circuit at IMS. Multi-class racing at Spa is amazing to watch. Weather looks good for the start, but you can always count on a red flag or two, and that may mean rain at the end. Spa kicks off tomorrow at 7:00 am central for your morning viewing pleasure on WEC's youtube channel (I can't remember if you need a VPN to watch or not). Indy is 3:30 on Sunday.

That’s terrible.
Saw that Max was testing in a 296 GT3 car at the Nurburgring under a pseudonym Franz Hermann or some shite. Article said he was going to get his Nurburgring license this year.

This is why Doohan got dropped so quickly. Franco brings in way more money.

Oh wow. That’ll do it.
Just listened to Chris Harris and friends latest podcast about this topic and they didn’t mention the hitech and brother arrested stuff but all agreed it didn’t make a ton of sense and “hoped everyone was alright”

Yep It was always about money along with Argentina wanting to get back into f1 and bringing in more money.
Kicking out Doohan after Miami allowed Colapinto to race in Europe at tracks he was familiar with that will ensure he stays in the seat the rest of the year.
