I think the idea and implementation of those flexible front and rear wings is cool as hell and should be praised and built upon.

All right, the Bahrain GP predictions are now locked for the weekend!

20 players updated their predictions. Good job!

New feature!

Once the predictions are locked out, the prediction page will now show you all prediction lists, bunched together for easy comparison. They are presented in order of their saved dates. I have the earliest prediction list saved after the Japanese GP. So anyone listed before me did not update their list since the last race.

You don't have to be logged in to view all of the locked-in predictions lists, anyone can view this page:

Someone did an analysis that showed that actually the Mercedes wing flexes more than anyone else’s. Not sure how scientific this analysis was.

Honest question, why do you lock in your picks before FP1? Im in a GridRival league and we lock in at Quali start, like park ferme. Also lets you make educated decisions instead of random guessing.

It was a conscious decision to increase the variability of the predictions. But I would hardly call it "random guessing." You know who are going to be in the top 7. Albon is a good bet to be around the bottom of the top 10. Hadjar and Bearman have been looking good. You can research who have been strong or weak at the current track in recent years. You can watch for news of upgrades that teams are bringing to the next race. You can watch YouTube videos of amateur or professional pundits providing their analysis. The proof will be at the end of the season. Are the points really spread out amongst most of the players, or will a smaller group differentiate itself at the top? I'm curious to find out myself!

I'll add that if you decide to dig into it and research you'll be able to find which tracks suit which cars better.

I missed the practice sessions. I'm looking at FP2 results. I see Hadjar in the VCARB is ahead of Max. Hadjar and Bearman and both Williams are looking good. Max is 0.825s off of Oscar. Yuki is another 0.7s back from Max and near the bottom. Any chatter about Max struggling or complaining about the car? Yuki looked better in Japan, any quotes from him after FP2?

I heard FP2 is around the same time as the race so supposedly shoud be the most representative practice session. Doesn't look good for Red Bull.

I feel like Max dicks around a lot during practices. He typically performs better during quali and the race. Watch him assblast the field.

Or he'll just struggle.

Just finished listening to FP2 and I don’t remember max complaining about anything besides his brakes at one point not working like he thought they should.
Set a quick lap around the middle of practice then everyone else just kept setting quicker laps.

Yeah max always seems to find performance from practice to qualifying.

RB turn their engines down during until quali. It’s a reason why we always see Max anywhere from 1-6 in FP1-FP3.

Also I think I have improved navigation with breadcrumbs and improved labeling and help text. If someone is unusually successful (sorantable), you can quickly look at all of their scorecards (which now include their ranking and championship points for that race) to maybe get clues to their success.

This is like when Checo's crash in Monaco revealed their floor design to the field

I firmly believe if that didn't happen, Max wins every race but 1 in 2024 and likely every race so far this year and Checo is probably still driving the RB.

Good question, and I had zero to do with Axe's game, but I like having all week to guess.

I also get the desire to devote some of your life to the period of time that someone decides is the the right time to log your guess.

For me, I'd rather not have my Thursday/Friday overly concerned with Max and Zak.

Tyre temp target values.

What the actual unit of measurement is, or which parameter it's targeting i.e., surface temps, carcass or bulk temps, I'm not sure of.

Ideally, you'd try to keep this as close to 0 as possible, given that is the set target, which I assume it is. Unfortunately, without driving unnecessarily slow, this is rather challenging especially in Bahrain.

You can see, approaching turn 4, tyres are still in a near optimal temperature range. After turn 10, which concludes the 2nd sector, both rear tyres are overheating (+11). So is the front left, the tyre you lean on the most during the last two corners.

We can safely assume McLaren keeps these values closer to the optimum. Keeping rear thermals down is why they appear as strong as they do here.

The target value changes based on the compound, given this is a predetermined value. For example, target temps for a wet tyre is much lower if this target was set during a dry session. So they might tell the driver to target -20 in a wet session.
