Max is a joy to watch

If F1 is going to rely on the DRS cheat code to enhance passing, why not make it available at all times during the race?

Whatever the wing change did in Canada seems to have hit Piastri harder than Norris.
Piastri in a good spot for that slip stream on lap 1.

You answered your own question. Because it would be overpowered, and lead to shitty racing. Having it restricted keeps things more competitive.

Problem solved. No DRS starting next year.
MOM mode instead. Available at all times on straights.

Interesting. I wasn’t aware!

Would make it interesting as who would compromise downforce in certain areas for some enhanced speed. I'd imagine theres a safety risk there with drivers turning off and on and potentially taking off in a high speed turn and crashing out.

Your image file said it was for the Grand Prix.

Either way, don't think Max has much a chance in the feature race tomorrow. But hope Oscar and find a pass on Lando.

How much rain are we looking at tomorrow? Was it '21 that was the non-race race? Last Williams podium, but I don't count it.

After struggling in sprint qualy, Tsunoda got his best qualifying result for Red Bull (P7) after they applied a last-minute upgrade just before qualy started. I think the story is that Yuki fell behind on upgrades when he had a big crash during Imola qualy. Some people believe that the parts they used would have been spares for Max and Horner would not have done this. If true, Mekies took a risk because if Max suffered damage during qualy (for example, to the floor) and they didn't have a spare of the same spec, Max would have had to use an older spec part and start the race from the pit lane.

So, qualy...
Albon P5 - Sainz P15
Russell P6 - Antonelli P18
I've noticed a couple of narratives that are getting a little tiresome.
1. Coming into Williams, Sainz fans were convinced that Sainz was a better driver than Albon and would end up dominating him. Carlos in now in his 13th race weekend with Williams. He's still not showing the consistent performance that Alex is. This isn't a knock on Carlos, I'm of the opinion that it can take time for a driver to adjust to a new car and team. My comment is that people who aren't Alex fans continue to underrate him. He is driving at a high level this year and is P8 in the championship--he is "best of the rest" and it's wishful thinking that some people still believe that he isn't equal or better than Sainz.
2. It seems like people are treating Antonelli like a first-round draft pick, consistently getting the benefit of the doubt. Because Toto promoted him directly to Mercedes, most people are convinced that he's destined for greatness. With the speculation that Max might come to Mercedes, a lot of people expect George to be the one who will be dropped, because Kimi is "the future" of Mercedes. While Kimi should be expected to make mistakes as a rookie, he is being outclassed by Hadjar's more consistent performances. I don't think Kimi has proven yet that he is a future superstar. Considering that he was placed immediately on a top team, people are babying him with reduced expectations instead of pressuring him to be more consistent like Hadjar. I just learned that Hadjar is the only driver on the bottom six teams who has not had a Q1 exit this year.

Yes, but the constant off again on again and ability to open at any time would lead to drivers accidentally turning on and/or leaving it on when unaware.
Do I think it would be interesting to see, hell yeah, but I'd imagine that is a part of not doing it, the safety aspect.

Yep. Hurricane Ida weekend.

Going to hate that its likely a safety car start... Going to save Lando from giving up the lead in turn 1 as usual.

LOL Nico just called out Jos to his face about having a big mouth about Horner needing to go and now nothing.
Nico has 0 fricks to give, but better watch out, Jos may beat him.

Nico being a savage
Bottas being coy
This is great
Jos looking for a wrench to beat him with.

And VER is in a good spot to give Oscar trouble too. Oscar hasn’t been the same unflappable driver here recently.
He’s damn good but something isn’t quite the same.
