Some interesting news yesterday. Shane Van Gisbergen will drive his 7 races for Kaulig in the 16. Both Talladegas, Coke 600, fall Vegas, COTA, Chicago, and Watkins Glen. Weird seeing Kaulig put someone other than AJ in the car for a road race. Guess they could bring the 13 car.

I'd like to see him get some more 1.5 mile experience if he is really going to be full time in 2025.

Also, if you've never watched a Supercars race, you should. Bathurst is particularly good.

Sunday Night

Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 55. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

I watched in 2011 when Speed Channel went live for coverage. Can you imagine a Cup/V8 doubleheader weekend at that track?

I'd love for the Cup series to do 2 international weekends a year. One in Canada/Mexico. And one on another continent. It's doable if they can get logistics down.

don’t think a Tuesday Clash would be feasible because Daytona 500 qualifying is on Wednesday.

I think your weeks are a little screwed up.

Yep, they are. It’s been a long week lol. I’m back in the days where there wasn’t a gap week between the Shootout/Clash and the Daytona 500.

Anyway, Clash might be Monday or Tuesday.

I think they will take it easy with him. He will only be full time in 2025 if he exceeds expectations this year in Xfinity. He needs to have about a 10th ish average finish on the ovals. Him AJ and Sam Mayer will dominate the RCs this year, but I think all Shane has to do is adapt and improve. Personally I can see Trackhouse buying a third charter and shipping Suarez off to Kaulig if he does not perform. If Suarez does well, I still expect Zane Smith to be brought in house. Shane can wheel anything with 4 wheels on it.

"Taking the Clash to Mexico City or Guadalajara is on [@NASCAR's] radar, perhaps as soon as next year, according to industry sources." - @TheAthletic

Asked this week about the possibility of taking the Clash to Mexico City, @NASCAR's Steve O’Donnell noted that they are in talks with entities in Canada and Mexico about possible races but that, "I wouldn’t want to put it at just Mexico as a possibility."

The redesign of Auto Club Speedway will 'most likely' not be ready for the 2025 NASCAR season.

NWS Los Angeles

Updated timing graphic, with the focus now on the late Sat -Tue/Wed storm system. Heavy Rain expected with potential for damaging, life-threatening flooding. Strong winds high elevation snow as well. Prepare now!

Will they race?

-would work w/authorities if public safety concerns

-have rain tires but only race in damp (no wipers etc)

-Likely need 2 hrs of no rain to dry & get Clash in

-Nothing at Coliseum soon so can stay extra day(s)

-How many? TBD on forecast & logistics/costs/Daytona prep

My crazy dream has always been a NASCAR race at the Nurburgring. Moonshine running on steroids.

NASCAR is back on track this evening (weather permitting - 40% chance of rain).

NASCAR Mexico cars will practice and qualify first this afternoon.

Cup teams will practice at 6:10pm/et. Drivers will be split into 4 groups. There will be two eight-minute practices for each, followed by a 4 minute session that will use speeds to set the lineup for the heat races.

Heat races (4 races, 25 laps, only green flag laps count) begin at 8:30pm/et.

Top 5 drivers from each heat advance to the main event. Sunday's last chance race will fill out the field for the Clash.

Atlanta is perfectly fine the way it is.

Saying that, it is the only intermediate track that should have that configuration and banking.
