Why do so many people hate Bubba? Dude is hilarious.

I watched the Netflix series yesterday. Just when I’d get tired of the Denny Hamlin show they would cut away to another driver. All in all it was pretty good and I enjoyed it.

I guess it goes back to the whole incident at Talladega in 2020. I think he could have handled the aftermath of that situation better, but I don’t hate him for it or anything. I think he’s a good dude who has an unquestionable passion for what he does and desires to do well. He’s incredibly hard on him self when he doesn’t do well. He’s a little bit cocky at times, but a lot of racecar drivers are.

Good post.
I don't like how he acts sometimes, but a lot of drivers I like (Blaney and Bowyer being the best examples) love Bubba, so if they think highly of him he is probably a pretty cool dude when the adrenaline isn't pumping and there aren't cameras in his face.

Chase has been in a top 2-3 car in the field 95% of the time hes on the track. Look at his braking and acceleration data from his incredible road course performance run... its not that he is just an absolute savant at road courses (though he is very good at them), his car was just capable of things the others weren't. That crew doesn't get half the credit it deserves for road course setups.
You still have to have the requesite talent to be able to take the car it's best possible finish. Just because you have a good ride doesn't automatically equal that you're gonna win/be a top-5 driver week in and week out. You have to have talent to do what needs to be done.
A couple of other posters hit on it last night; he never fully recovered from his leg injury. That and I think it was more Gustafson than a lot of people want to admit. This year will be a big year for him, especially early. If Chase struggles out of the gate, I could see a change at the top.
But I think he is gonna recover bigly this year. He's just too good not to.

Blaney and Chase are his closest friends on the circuit.

I didn't say it did, and he is not top 5 week in and week out anyway. He is actually kind of bad (as in doesn't win much, not actually bad like Cody Ware or something) at mile-and-a-half tracks, which are the majority of the schedule.
Without short tracks and road courses (which both use similar, sometimes the same setups which we already established he benefits from) his career doesn't look that great. If the championship is at like an Atlanta, Charlotte, or Miami I'm not sure he even has one.... he's not beating guys like Larson, KFB, Truex, etc there.

One of the dumber takes I’ve read in awhile.
It takes “more” driver skil to win on road courses and short tracks than cookie cutter ovals which are more aero dependent.
Your claim is because he does better on harder tracks he is not worthy?
Chase takes a beating here by the crowd solely based on his name. He had an injured year. Of course he was down in points. Heck, he came damn close to Bubba in having as many points prior to cutoff for chase - and he missed 7 fricking races! Read that again.
Agenda driven posts vs facts.
In the last 36 races (so last year):
Chase had the 7th best avg finish
1. 5.5 Ginsberg (2 race wonder)
2. 11.0 Byron
3. 11.9 Pastrana (1 race wonder)
4. 12.1 Buescher
5. 12.4 Hamlin
6. 12.8 Bell
7. 13.1 Elliott
So take out the 2 non regulars and Chase was 5th best avg finish. He finished better than Larson, Blaney and many others.
It was only his missed races that cost him playoffs. His injury is the only reason Bubba got in playoffs.

I would think the Fords and Toyotas will have much better seasons the the chevys due to their new front ends. Granted HMS will have two cars on the pole for Daytona but I don't see how a chevy gets the championship this year if theyre at a disadvantage aero wise.
Hopefully we see the HP change back to 900 to fix the short tracks.

I would agree, but ovals take skill too. Just a different skill.
And I said he was very good at road courses. Hes also in by FAR the best car.

And in his car, barring injury which he does get a valid excuse missing them for, he should be in the playoffs every year. Not only that, if he doesn't make the round of 8 its kind of a failure in that ride. Which he has in full seasons more often than not excluding last year.

Just watched the first episode of the new Netflix series. Bubba came off as relatable and nice. Hamlin came off as extremely fake and scripted. I've always thought he was a bit of a duche, but holy shite was he bad in that episode. He clearly was trying way too hard to portray himself like the Too Cool For You Bad Guy.

Saw last night that NASCAR: Full Speed was in the top 5 of US Netflix shows.
