Not in the least. The vast majority of F1 talent resides in the UK. Basing the operations outside of UK would greatly limit the amount of experienced F1 talent they could attract. They're already in a dodgy situation because they are not actually in F1 yet, but they are already developing and building shite.

Most teams in F1 as well as the F1 itself are HQ'd in the UK as well, IIRC.

Relevant from this morning:

motorsport.com/f1/news/andretti-hires-pat-symonds-as-push-to-join-f1-grid-continues-/10613735/

quote:

Pat Symonds was set to leave his position as F1's chief technical officer after seven years in the job, playing a crucial role in contributing to F1's technical regulations for 2022 and 2026.

With the chassis rules for 2026 all but finalised, Symonds decided to leave the organisation as had long been under consideration.

It has now emerged that Andretti Global is Symonds's next destination, with Michael Andretti's organisation hiring the 70-year-old as an Executive Engineering Consultant.

He will work from the team's recently opened UK base in Silverstone following a gardening leave period.

No link but if you follow the intervals between Lando and Max for the last 10+ laps, you can easily see when Max goes on harder on certain laps. It seemed pretty obvious because his times weren't consistent. Lando would get close and Max would put in a hotter lap than his previous. If Max wasn't using some strategy and going flat out, his lap times would have been more consistent with slow degradation instead of lap improvements at critical times.

They'd cooled too far as the tread gauge wore out and became thin. Max had been careful not to be too hard on them - but actually that just made the problem worse. Once they become too cool with not much tread left, there’s no bringing them back up to temperature. “Suddenly I cannot turn the car,” he complained as the McLaren grew ever-bigger in his mirrors.

Esteban Ocon is emerging as an increasingly central player in the driver market. He is understood to have begun contract talks with Haas as he evaluates the different options for 2025. With his existing Alpine contract expiring this year, the Frenchman faces some big decisions.

Ocon isn't slow by any means but I'm curious how he'd be with a rook as a teammate. He's shown himself to be rather difficult at times.

I’d like to have Mick back in a seat. Especially in a seat better than those two years at Haas.

Sky reporting Sainz is likely to take the Audi seat at this point. Merc wants Max and Kimi is the backup plan. RBR not likely either...Horner is in charge of negotiations now, not Marko. And he's more likely to give checo another shot.

It wasn’t the car’s fault he kept destroying them.

The Mick/Mazespin era was quite a blur.

Anyone ITT do sim racing? Be it iRacing, Gran Turismo, Assetto Corsa, F1 21 - 24, Forza Motorsport, etc.

If so, what games do you play, why do you like them, and what is your setup like?

I am looking just to have some fun but maybe also have some competitive races from time-to-time. I am very interested in F1, as y'all know, but also IndyCar. I even watch NASCAR from time-to-time. I would like to race at cool, famous tracks. I don't care that much about car selection, nor am I particularly motivated by an in-game storyline.

I play F123 and enjoy it. The career mode is pretty fun. My setup is a PS4 controller lol. I've thought about getting a steering wheel/pedals but I don't really have the right setup in the room for that and I don't think I have the time to justify putting money into that.

I race mainly GT3 in Assetto Corsa Competizione, Mazda MX5 Cup in Assetto Corsa, and WEC racing in LeMans Ultimate.

I tried racing F1 but my reflexes are too slow..
