I actually agree Novak is a dick, especially in his younger years but Shelton has been a cocky SOB all tournament and hasn't won't crap which is fine but you better be prepared to get shite on when you get beat

Cocky? Because he celebrates after winning points and has fun out there? It’s the same shite people hate Alcaraz for. “His staring at his box!!!!!”

He didn’t act like a count. Shelton flexes every other point and screams when opponents make unforced errors. I don’t even like Djokovic but loved the celebration

guess you are one of those that hates Alcaraz too. Sad.

Great for the sports to see young guys enjoy it and play with passion like other sports

So when young guys do it it’s “enjoying it and playing with passion.”

When ND does it it’s “he’s acting like a cunt.”

I like Novak but I wouldn’t call myself a fan. I just enjoy watching him play. But you keep trying to make fun of “Djoker fanboys” when it seems like you’re the one who can’t let it go and are on a mission to call him names. It’s weird.

Y’all can continue to try and bury your head, but go type Djoks name in twitter. The only talk is him being a dick. Now, we can see him act like a victim again when the entire crowd is pro Alcaraz and he acts like he just has no idea why. It’s his thing. It’s his edge, and he has made the GOAT career out of playing the part for his mind

I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. I actually think is dickness is good for tennis. I just find it strange this website seems to be the only place that has people who seem to have trouble seeing Djoks dickness.

Internationally? Explain that.

And he was trash talking a little just like Shelton was. I don’t see the issue with either of them. But you seem to think one is totally fine and the other is cuntish behavior.

I view celebrating points during a match, or any sport, and mocking the opponent after it’s ended has completely different endeavors, and so does any rationale person

I have no issue what so ever when djok does this 100 times a match

Djokovic has been unfairly hated by fans for 15 years. I don’t blame him one bit for giving every crowd the middle finger.

That isn’t giving the crowd the middle finger though. That’s giving it to Shelton. Which if you want to do that, go ahead. But own it and don’t feel shocked when people judge you for it

Deion was and is a dick. But he owns it. Djok kinda wants to live both personas. He is a nice person off the court so I think he is uncomfortable with his own on court demeanor at times.

Even more proof, not that any was needed, of what a soft sport tennis is amongst media/fans given the reaction against Novak's "celebration".

This was both funny and shows how much Shelton was annoying Djokovic. Enjoy the show and stop crying. This is professional sports.

It’s seems the only crying is those defending Djok

Like you said it’s sports. Just admit he wanted to be a dick and mock him

And calling tennis soft for the reaction. The media had a conniption when baker mayfield put a flag in a field after a game

When someone acts like a cock in any sport the media reacts

Entire football teams will try and fight for another team pre game jumping on a logo…..

Need to go on?

I thought the celebration was pretty funny, and this can coexist just fine with the notion that Djoker can be a bit of an arrogant dick. He’s the best and he knows it, and he grew used to the idea that he will not have the same fan support across the world as Fed/Nadal. So he embraced a certain mentality which produces these sort of edgy moments and interactions, and he actually feeds off of it during the match — especially the stuff with the crowd. It’s not really a bad thing but ended up being good for him and it’s okay for the sport.

Tennis is such a staid sport so folks always overreact to this stuff. The bottom line is a legend just put a young-up-and-comer (who also dishes out a lot of celebration, yelling after points, etc.) in his place. Was it bad form? Perhaps a bit, but Shelton has been pretty cocky all tournament so Djoker somewhat justifiably returned the favor after dominating him. It was also a gesture towards the crowd imo, who were naturally pro-Shelton

I recall a hilarious yet subtle exchange that Djokovic had during 2022 Wimbledon when he was playing Norrie (in the semi I believe). He hit an ace on match point and turned around to a group who had been pretty vocally pro-Norrie and kissed the air — it was quite funny actually. I’ve always wanted a gif of this but have had trouble finding it. Years ago stuff like that would have pissed me off but I just find it funny now and I think it’s good that Novak embraces it.

Agree with all of this. The only thing he and his fans do that turns me off personally is then acting shocked and surprised when you aren’t the most well liked on court.
