Popular opinion. Earnhardt had already won 6 championships by the time Davey died, Ernie Irvan's header at Michigan in 1994 practically gifted Earnhardt his seventh championship.
This guy's career is also a big "what could have been", to me anyway.

They don’t have that many cars in the field anymore, so they don’t have the data supply as a manufacturer that Chevy and Ford have. That, and most of the Toyota drivers are young.

I wish this race track weren’t going away. It’s not a bad track, at all. It can produce some fun racing, particularly at the end of the race and on restarts.

I'm starting to worry that my boy Larson was a flash in the pan and really is more of a middle-of-the-pack guy who lucks into a win once or twice a year.
