I’m glad for Daugherty, I interviewed him one time when he actually was trying to race some himself (drags) and he literally is one of the nicest, most friendly people you could ever encounter.

Otherwise this was the perfect ending for an utter silage pit of a race.

I was at his last win, Dale Jr's last Daytona race. That was much sadder than this.

So Ricky won the 400 previously?

So where is the ribbon that tells us where everybody finished? Another failure by Fox.

He won Talladega and Daytona in 2017

I think he's won that one and Dega. Pretty sure this is his 3rd win.

Yes, in 2017. Also won at Talladega that same year, I believe.

The race itself was ok;

The coverage OTOH was hot garbage. FOX should be ashamed of themselves.

No Daytona 500 victory lane coverage again. How pathetic. Fox just doesn't give a shot do they?

I’ll stick to F1. Hadn’t watched a cup race in forever — this ending…wish they still raced to the flag… I don’t understand the rules or anything anymore. Miss the NASCAR I grew up watching.

All NASCAR fans miss what they grew up watching. Unfortunately things change. I like F1 but it has it flaws. It is too top heavy with 2, maybe 3 teams. Most races are boring.

They use timing so it's not completely human element.

Not in last lap, they use cameras and timestamls to see where each car was at time of caution. For in race cautions they go back to last timing line but not on last lap decisions. Last night they showed the picture of cars at time of caution. Same thing tonight they had Ricky ahead exactly when yellow was triggered.

8 and 3 messed up not lining up together on prior restart.

Random observation on what a dumpster fire that Roush had turned into… Before Buescher won Bristol last fall, Ricky Stenhouse had the most recent Roush win.

If stands JJ got 5th (CORRECTION: nope, forgot he’s in 84 not 48)

Cup Unofficial: 47 22 20 17 48 16 99 12 1 15

4 36 51 67 19 7 11 5 8 23

10 6 2 42 54 21 38 34 50 78

84 31 3 24 14 41 43 9 45 77

Yeah I don't why people are up in arms over who won. NASCAR got it right.

It was more on the 3 than the 8 but your broader point is right.

I followed F1 (along with NASCAR and Indy) very closely back in the 1970s when I was in high school. Dangerous era but you had such great personalities like Stewart, Fittipaldi, Rindt, Hill, Hunt, Laura, etc. I’m trying to get more into the modern product but it’s hard.

Stenhouse breaks a 199-race winless drought, dating back to the Daytona 400-miler in 2017.

That represents the fourth-longest drought in Cup Series history.
