Palou is just unreal. Guy has learned so much from Dixon + his skill, he’s making the points race a runaway.

That's what I figured too, he has the same racing temperament as the always-cool Dixon, and he had the opportunity to learn from the master.

Such a contrast to O'Ward and Herta, the hyped-up young guys who are clearly not the complete driver that Palou is.

Super aggressive driving from Grosjean. So much jostling in that four-car group, but in the end the order didn't change at all.

Grosjean finally got by DeFrancesco a little later.

Easy win for Palou by 5 seconds over his teammate Dixon. Great result for Dixon, too.

Selfishly, Palou needs to move to F1 but it’s best for Indy Car if he stays in the series.

Dude is just on another level right now. Damn impressive

Red Bull makes a surprise hire for next year?!

Although, I think it would be bad for Red Bull to bypass a Red Bull Junior two drivers in a row.

Wow, Dixon is up to P2 in the championship. Just another season of relentless finishes, a bit under the radar this year.

Pato on a three-stop strategy went from P25 to P8. +17

Newgarden on a two-stop strategy went from P15 to P12. +3

Say one thing for RBR, if you’re not Max Verstappen, they don’t give a single frick about your feelings.

Imdy car is the best series of the big 3 for actual on track racing. They just need to have more races the breaks kill all momentum.

Alex Palou is running away with the championship. I don't think we've seen this level of season dominance in many years. Most years it comes down to the last race. At this rate, Alex will wrap up the championship with more than two races to spare.

What are the differences between the primary and alternate tires in Indycar?

The primary tires are better for longer runs and have consistent degradation. The Alternates are softer, faster, but the degradation happens quicker and they really fall off after that.

I seem to remember one or two people saying they were going to the Nashville race either last year or the year before, but I don't remember who. Edit: Looking at last year's thread, it looks like LINK ]BottomlandBrew went to the race.

Regarding tires in IndyCar, it's much simpler than F1, with just a black primary and a red-striped alternate tire. In F1 they bring three dry compounds to each race, and have a total range of six(!) dry compounds. Both series require that you use (at least) two compounds during the race.

Since there is refueling in IndyCar, you don't need a hard compound to add more strategy options. I think every race has at least two pit stops, I'm not sure if there are any where one pit stop is viable. While the red alternates are definitely faster than the primaries in qualifying, their performance during the race differs from track to track. Sometimes the reds last a reasonably long time so they are used for a good chunk of the race. And at some tracks they degrade so fast that most of the race is run on the black primaries.

And now there is a different alternate tire with a green stripe. The green alternate is supposedly made from more "sustainable" materials, and the performance is supposed to be reasonably close the red alternates. The green alternates are being used at all of the street races this year, so that would include Nashville.

Two bits of news.

First, IndyCar had been talking about putting on a non-points post-season race in Argentina, pushed and organized by Argentinian Ricardo Juncos of Juncos Hollinger Racing. But now it sounds like IndyCar is also considering doing it in other places instead. I don't know why any team would participate in a non-championship race unless all of their expenses are paid for. A return to the Gold Coast would be awesome. I can't access the indystar.com article so I don't know what it says.

The other news is that David Malukas has announced that he will not return to Dale Coyne Racing next year. As a rookie last year the first few races were really rough, but in the second half of the season he was putting on some amazing performances. This year has not been as good as the second half of last year, but apparently his stock is still rising, he's only 21 still, and he brings sponsorship money from his family's company HMD Trucking. He appears to be very confident that he will get a ride with one of the higher ranked teams in the paddock.

Another IndyCar street race on Sunday.

Unfortunately, I don't have Peacock so I won't get to watch. WTF?

IndyCar is not a serious racing series until every race is on TV. Hopefully next year. Demand is growing. I can feel it.
