am new to f1. My limited research tells me the Red Bull rb19 is a Ford. Is Ford really dominating F1 this year ? Over mclaren and Mercedes?

Oh. The “strategic partnership” with ford Starts in 2026 apparently. Guess it’s Honda supplying the engine

Well, this is a Red Bull Powertrains engine.
The R&D and IP is all Honda. But Red Bull assembles them...not that Red Bull, a different Red Bull, not under the salary cap.
That other Red Bull, not the Red Bull that has been around for years and collaborated with Honda, will build a new engine with Ford in 2026.
So that Red Bull is a new engine manufacturer. So the new Red Bull gets extra test time. Because that other Red Bull is not the same as the existing Red Bull. The other Red Bull just works with Honda one engine stuff today...but not enough that they actually learned anything (by owning/running their engines for near a decade)
It's not that hard to follow bro.
I wonder if Red Bull threatens to quit this year like they did when they weren't winning...

That was a decent race. Williams was el terrible.
Cool to see Roger Federer landing on his feet with a job on the paddock.

Ford is mostly a badging deal, though they will help with the hybrid side of things. Red Bull Powertrains will do most of the heavy lifting.
If Honda sticks around it looks to be with Aston Martin.
The Andretti interview was interesting during the grid walk. He seems confident they can get on the grid by 2025.

I enjoyed the race. Especially after Baku.

I agree because as good as VER was at managing his tires today I think that is one thing that Checo is better at. That strategy was done to produce the result at the end of the race that we saw.
Don't agree at all. I think the biggest gap Perez ever had over Max was 6 seconds. And that was while Max was in the pack passing cars as Perez was alone out front on faster tires.
All weekend Max was 4 tenths or more faster than Perez. Was just a matter of time no matter the tire strategy.

I’m just now getting to finish the race and haven’t had a chance to catch up on the thread but….
The Miami GP promoters have to be sweating, right? Compared to this year they couldn't even sell all the tickets, there was visible empty seats all over, ticket flippers must've lost their arse. Why buy a $1100 ticket when you can just buy it for $300 a week before?

On the telecast they said there were 30,000 more people there than last year.

Yeah I believe it was a sell out even with added seating.
Posted on 5/7/23 at 9:24 pm to 1999
Sell out sure, but tickets definitely plummeted on secondary markets.

They can call it what they want, but there were a lot of empty seats this year. Yes, they added a lot more seats than last year and had more people attend, but the empty seats were very noticeable on TV.

I’m about 99% positive they didn’t actually sell out. Ticket reps were still contacting people I know only just a couple weeks ago trying to push tickets still.
