I still like the sport but it is nowhere near where it was back in the mid 80s through the first half or so of the 2000s

I'm coming around to the PTP way of thinking. DRS is just too powerful and to be able to use it so many times instead of strategically makes little sense to me.

From another forum;

quote:
Perez said before the race ‘if it’s a clean race I shouldn’t see Max’
0 retirements
0 yellow flags
0 safety cars
And he gets beaten from 9th.

Had they been on the same tire strategy, I think Perez would have been right.
Max got a huge advantage with the hards going soooo long for him. In the post-race, sounds like the team talked it over and decided to go oppo yesterday evening.

Yep. Almost all the teams missed on the tire strategy. Hard/Med or even Hard/Soft should have been the strategy.

I agree because as good as VER was at managing his tires today I think that is one thing that Checo is better at. That strategy was done to produce the result at the end of the race that we saw.

Even after checo added his hards, max was still adding time. Then max blew him away after pitting. Absolute clinic.
Interesting on the post race show, buxton saying big shakeup coming to alpine. Bye bye ottmar?

My god Christian is in his bag.

Racey and Toto are the best villains in formula 1, as long as one of those guys are on top we can always count on them talking shite

I'm a fan of Racey Spice. Best shite talker in F1.

Wrong. Prost and Senna were both at McLaren but Mansell hung with both of them when he was at Williams and to a lesser extent when he moved to Ferrari. Hill and Villeneuve were with Williams when they were going against Schumacher who was with Benetton. Then when Schumacher went to Ferrari his main challenger was Hakkinen at McLaren. There were multiple times when one team's driver won the driver's championship and another team won the constructor's championship.

Horner is nice guy arrogant
Toto is a-hole arrogant
Or maybe its just the accent.

One in the same. Their smugness varies by winning.

I'll always love Jackie Stewart just for playing the role of George Harrison's chaffeur in his Faster video.

quote:Nope, there was always a dominant team. Mansell had some very entertaining drives but he was no match for McLaren when they were in their prime.
Wrong

Sure, every now and then, there would be a good inter-team battle, but we have that in modern times as well, like we did 2 seasons ago. There is literally no difference between then and now as far as consistent competition goes. Except DRS.
